Having owned mostly Fords in my life, I loved the E46 325i that I owned for a number of years.
Since moving to the USA, all my vehicles have been 3 litre cars or bigger and none of them Fords...
I've currently got a Lexus RX300 that's as reliable as can be, and went over 250,000 miles in February.
Since putting a performance filter in it and replacing the plugs, it's even better. It's not going to win any drag races but I really like it and will keep it for as long as I'm living here.
However, yesterday I started looking at BMW's on Craigslist and I'm liking what I see.
E39 540i with 6 speed manual gearbox, ok mileage and good condition for about $4k, a 2007 525i (3 litre 6) for $3k (about half the going rate- very tempted by this...)
2001 740i.
E46 M3's are generally around $10k, and having driven one, I'd love one.
