My wife bought me tickets to race day for the 2025 British Grand Prix for my birthday (Vale Stand) but I have never been to Silverstone for a Grand Prix before and need some help.
What sort of time do we need to arrive at Silverstone to be able to get in without queuing for hours and if we get accommodation (already daft money up to 30 miles away), how far is too far away and how long is it likely to take to get to the circuit?
Is there anything else we should take? Is food easily available or should we take a packed lunch? Any other useful information?

Food is easily available. There’s like every type of international cuisine you ever imagined.
I’ve only been in the BRDC and we arrived on Saturday at around 7ish. It wasn’t too bad. We camped, although probably not more than a couple of hours were spent even close to the tent. As to arrival on Sunday, we left the party at the clubhouse at about three in the morning and people were queuing the other side of the gates. They were, of course, insane but you catch the drift re: arrival.
Traffic management was pretty good. Best way in is a helicopter as Silverstone becomes the busiest airport in the world for one day a year. I’d say the best plan is to not stress about the journey or the traffic and aim to be held up for an hour or two in the way in. If you’re early there’s plenty to see and eat.

I’ve never been but at Silverstone Classic there’s plenty of food on site
I’d camp too. It makes the weekend and if you go somewhere like woodlands there’s normally a band on at night

Do you not have a helicopter and pilot on standby Racing? I'm disappointed....

It’s been a long time since I’ve been there in race day as I prefer Saturday, but the earlier the better for avoiding traffic and be prepared for 1+ hours, although it’s so much better than it used to be. You don’t have to go in at dawn as those without a seat will, but I’d be aiming to be there before 8am.
Have a look at other parking options too. Whittlebury Hall is a good option and if you’re coming from Buckingham/MK direction as you can come in via Stowe and avoid the worst of the traffic. Same benefit at the end of the day.

There are other parking options within a 10-15min walk which are outside the circuit (Silverstone Village or farms close by) so worth looking at those as well. Loads of food options as has been mentioned already.
