Haven’t been to a gig in a good while. Tried for Oasis tickets and got kicked off for being a bot- wasn’t going to pay big money anyway.
However I’ve a few gigs lined up in the next year that I’m looking forward to.
November I’m going to see Bad Manners, a mate of mine used to play support for them in the 80’s and I mentioned it to some of the lads in my running group and now there’s 15 of us going together. Really looking forward to that!
Last night a mate told me Simple Minds are playing a gig next year and the presale happened today, I’ve tickets for them too.
Not a massive fan of either band but like their music and looking forward to seeing them both.

Haven't seen anyone in ages. Last was Mark Knopfler at the Newcastle Arena. Seats were shit and the front group was completely empty. They need to sort ticketing out. Could hardly hear or see a thing.
Before that was Meat Loaf shortly after his heart attack. We were front and centre. He turned up on stage on a gurney pushed by a nurse in skimpy tunic, stockings and suspenders. Brilliant show.

I am a creature of habit. I almost never miss Duran Duran if they’re in London. They never fail to put on a great show and don’t rely on a handful of classics, although they always end with Rio…. Last year they did some really early stuff I haven’t seen live in decades and overlaid it with huge imagery of the 80s heyday. It was like being in my teenaged bedroom.
I should’ve gone to AC/DC but was too stupid to get tickets. Saw Depeche Mode last spring at Twickenham - great show as well. Nothing this year.

Brian Johnson was in the Chinese on the quayside while I was dealing with moaning TVRCC members at our annual meal a few years back.

I had tickets to see tears for fears last summer at Warwick castle. It got cancelled because curt broke his ribs and never got re arranged which was annoying , but they are showing a recent gig from the states in cinemas in a couple of weeks, so I’ve booked to go and see that. They have a new album out too so hopefully some uk gigs will follow next year
I did get an oasis ticket (at standard price) for one of the Wembley gigs next year .
Hoping I can get to from the jam in Coventry at the end of November too.

The only tickets I've got currently are to see The Damned in Glasgow in December. Bought the tickets late last year. We're tempted to go to see Iron Maiden next year but it'd be the Hydro in Glasgow and neither of us are sure about potentially having to sit down at that sort of gig! Mrs Tim is a huge fan but has never seen them whereas I'm not that fussed but saw them in the early 90s.
There are a few other bands that I'm hoping will announce a tour soon.

I went to watch Coldplay earlier this year (sorry Blarno), and they did put on quite a good show. Everyone was on their feet from start to finish.

Haven't been to a gig since pre Covid - before that I quite regularly went to the O2 Academy in Newcastle. Gary Numan used to be particularly good, but also saw Kasabian, New Order, My Chemical Romance (crap), White Stripes. The Cluny down Ouseburn is also quite an intimate venue for up and coming bands.

I went to one on Sunday....which I feel the need to explain! It was an invitation from a customer to their box at the O2 (customer of the same name....) to celebrate the end of an implementation project. It's rare that I'm being hosted at some hospitality or another rather than being the host, so that made a nice change. It was Janet Jackson and my revere is it was better than I expected.... The last time I was at the O2 it was to see the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, so quite a different experience....and not just because we didn't have to queue for food and drink.
We both tried for Oasis tickets but weren't successful.

The pub have been getting musicians in once a month over the last few months. Just cover artists, but they have, in the main, been decent and added some much needed atmosphere.

We saw an Oasis tribute band at CarFest in 2019 and the singer was MUCH better than Liam Gallagher. I was also surprised at how many All Saints songs I knew

I have a ticket to Oasis next year at Wembley but am in the gods so might need a telescope to watch. I did try and get Coldplay but they made Oasis look as popular as Showaddywaddy so that was a no go. I would like to see Iron Maiden who are also on next year.

My old-man grumpiness about crowds and queues (which also puts me off F1 live) kicks in a bit for the bigger bands! I do love live music, though ideally at a smaller venue than Wembley or the O2. I like London Grammar a lot, but my ex wife always hated them and Tina isn't keen either - I saw they were touring in about a month but I'm not going alone

I haven’t been to a gig for 7 years . I don’t enjoy stadium gigs or large arenas anymore unless I have brilliant seats. I was going to see mammoth wvh (Eddie van halens son) because I love his first two albums but decided I would only go if my youngest went so I rang him and he said ‘no I can’t stand fir 2 hours with my back ,which is one of the reasons I don’t go to gigs anymore )

I was at a charity dinner 3 weeks ago and bid for and won tickets for a private hospitality box to see Texas the very next night at the Hydro. I have to say they were great, the vocals from Sharleen Spiteri were strong and pitch perfect and the place was buzzing. Seldom have I heard such good vocals live. We also had KT Tunstall as the support act, the food and drink were plentiful and we loved it.

He’s over in Dublin working with us for the last month or so and flew back a day early to go to it. Since the original post, I’ve also got tickets to the Stereophonics next summer. Losing the run of myself with gigs now.
