I can see why that would appeal.
But there are a few issues for me…lovely colour but not dark enough to hide the worst of the styling / large plastics bits, interior quality doesn’t match the price (step back from yours) and it’s way too expensive even with the big discounts available now and more reasonable finance rates. After a 12% discount the saloon is c£85k which means £1,300 a month….for a 5 series….its bonkers.

I assumed from the picture that was the M5 - is the 550E based on the same bodyshell?

No. That IS an M5 as there’s no pictures of a 550e yet. You can spec it on BMW.de and it’s just a 5er Touring.

Also 2500kg About the same as a Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow, then. Ridiculous.

It seems to have a standard fit snow plough/cow catcher. Interesting.

Interesting comment about BMW getting a new designer - I didn't know anything about that but I don't believe that many would disagree it was needed!

It seems to have a standard fit snow plough/cow catcher. Interesting. Hah. It does look a bit like it was designed to clear snow from the roadway. Albeit more light accumulations on the way to Waitrose rather than ploughing a path through the Carpathians after a snowstorm.

Speaking to my BMW tech mate tonight. Seems the recall rate for i-models is sky-high, for all manner of reasons. Apparently some are coming from the factory and can't pass PDI at his dealership!

Wow, that's unimpressive. Which factory makes these? I've recently had a recall for the airbag on the 430. I'm surprised as the E46s and E39s all had airbag recalls years ago so I'd assumed whatever the problem there was had been sorted. Maybe they've all been buying Chinese sourced cheapo ones.

I take it these are tech issues as opposed to build issues in Dingolfing. All 5ers are made there with some post-assembly in China for that part of the world.

That certainly looks better than the saloon but it's hardly pretty. Not sure what I think about the illuminated lipstick. It certainly makes them stand out at night but it's all a bit too ostentatious for me.

Not sure tbh, he didn't say. I've had the same airbag recall for mine too, it's going into Douglas park next week for the fix. Apparently, there's a issue with excessive explosive force plus possible metal fragments that could injure driver/passenger when it goes off. Lovely.

I think that's the same reason as the Takata recall for the older cars
