Chris won’t sleep tonight. TBH I don't mind how mucky other people's cars are. What's worse is that I have discovered today the the free VED band is disappearing from next year, so low emissions cars such as my Fiesta will be charged annually from around April 2025. this apparently applies to all the EV cars that also have had zero VED until now

I don't let the truck bed get that filthy. 🤣 In my defence I had cut down some very large bushes at my mum's house and then spent at least 3 days burning the waste in an incinerator but that had barely made a dent in the pile. So remembering that the Kia was bought with the intention that it would be used for dump runs while emptying my mum's house I decided to do just that and filled it with several loads that went either to the dump or my house (you have to book the dump and are limited to 3 visits a week). Finally the car now has no MOT, isn't going to get one and its next journey will probably be to the scrappies so I'm not wasting my time. The moss is a surprise as I had been diligently removing that for a while but its clearly fast growing stuff.

The builders bags are great for tip runs, 2 just fit in the back of the Yeti...it reduces most of the leaves!

I found the best way of dealing with leaves was to get a tree surgeon in to remove the trees from the back garden! We’ve got trees outside our garden, but the leaves don’t come our way. I do have a number of bushes to keep on top of, but if I split the ones at the front and side of the house into 2 different weekends and don’t leave them too long, it all goes in the garden waste bin.

I got a tree surgeon in last year to trim/remove a load of hedge that was mainly laurel bushes but the latest lot was something in the middle of the garden that I hadn't planned on removing until late in the process so I just did it myself.
If I hadn't got the Kia I would've just persisted with the burning or got a skip or 2.

I did point out that £30/yr wasn't going to break the bank...

Moss is impressive.
Our neighbours' car, a red 67-plate Suzuki Swift, usually sports some fine moss, along with green film, cobwebs and the suchlike dreck - I am fairly sure it only gets washed once a year when it goes in for its annual service.

I have to say Tim, that I have never seen such well established moss on the bodywork of any car before. Occasionally around the windows of an abandoned car but that's "impressive".

Thankyou for those kind words.
It's a bit of a mystery, must be something to do with the join in the sill. There's no moss or other green stuff anywhere else on the car, not even the window rubbers.

The Kia - suddenly I don't feel so bad about the state ours get into.

Well, the Kia is available if you're prepared to beat the scrap price of £179.82

I had missed the pics on this thread. Thank god! I spent all of Saturday afternoon in a massive 3-way car licking session that crippled my back. But it was worth it. Naturally when I had to drive a fair way in showery weather on Sunday (with Tina) I chose the Porsche. And braced for the alarm expressed about the (admittedly increasingly unpleasant) sounds from the FNS suspension on anything below motorway speeds (which its booked in for next week).
Tim will be relieved to hear that moving the mitt over any part of the Alfa still feels like wiping a pat of butter around a hot pan, it has so much ceramic on it.... The spray-on/wipe off stuff (which can go on top of anything) really works, the BMS is impressively slick without ever having had full ceramic treatment.
Moss on cars is a PITA - window seals can start to develop it, and the Boxster hood also, whatever its cleaned with. I found the best antidote is parking both ways around - the cars get plenty of sun here but its just the front then one side - parking the Boxster the other way around half the time in the summer has seen the hoob lose its slight shade on that side......

I'm very relieved to hear about the Alfas paintwork Between me leaving the house last week to collect the Toyota and coming home with it a couple of hours later the farmer had started taking away potato boxes out of the field before my house. As it had rained that morning the road was now very muddy and consequently the Toyota instantly looked like it'd done a couple of stages on the 1000 Lakes. I was tempted to wash it at the weekend but glad I didn't as a bit more rain and more tractors have reinstated the mudbath.

Last washed in July (I think). Most of that is from using it for work the past couple of weeks whilst I waited for my new van.
