So,
It looks like the RCF will take the award for the car I've owned for the shortest period of time - despite arguably being one of the best. I will miss the RC - had a great solo blast in it yesterday - and am glad to have owned it - was expecting to keep it long term but head is ruling heart for now.
In a re-think of our situation we have decided to make changes and taking a company car option is step 1. So, tomorrow, a Tesla Model 3 Long Range AWD (Blue!) is scheduled to be delivered!
I decided to hedge my bets (against possible changes in tax rules and in case it doesnt work out for us) so chose a pool car with 18 months left (MY 2022) rather than a newer, lower spec, option.
I loose the extra pay but this helps avoid tax traps and frees up cash from the RC for investing rather than tied to a depreciating asset. Man maths was not needed - the figures are clear.
Anyway...to the point...selling:
The least hassle option is Motorway/CarWow etc but there are cosmetic issues that will rightly chip away at the online quotes
- All the wheels need a refurb (one my fault - the others not!) - The mark on the rear bumper where it was 'kissed' by the Audi (approx £4-500 to fix professionally - I was given the money for this so would not truly be out of pocket!) - Wear on drivers seat bolster - approx £100 for a pro-fix
So - circa £1k work to bring it up to being 'very good' but that comes with delays and short term hassle. However, it should ensure best price and would no doubt be more attractive if I decided to sell privately with a view to get better price (thought something I expect I would find tiresome with a car like this)
So, thoughts from the collective? Anyone used the online 'bidding' approach and what was your experience? Would you sort the issues noted regardless of the path taken?
Thanks,
O.

Right, we need to meet up, and fast! I've always been interested in these, they're like hens teeth, someone I "know" (that's you) gets one and now its going?? We need a ride swap ASAP........
What age is it, and what's it worth, roughly?

Sold an F-Pace on Tootle in 2018 - painless experience and got a fantastic price.
For similar sites where you upload photos and retailers bid direct, best plan of attack is to be honest. The F-Pace went to a Jag main dealer group buyer (who overpaid - but that's life)
For WBAC - don't list the damage and let them chip you down if you decide to take it in.

If you’re selling it privately, then definitely get all the work done. For me, selling privately isn’t worth the hassle, best to avoid dealing with the general public if you can!
We used Motorway to sell the Golf and it was completely painless plus we got quite a bit more than expected, close to £2k more than their estimate. It was due a service and MOT in less that 2 weeks when it was listed, but I decided not to bother getting it done. In your case, I’d probably get the bodywork sorted (by someone like ChipsAway to save £) and leave the wheels. The bolster depends on how bad it is, but £100 to make the issue go away sounds like money well spent. Best to list everything with Motorway then not let the buyer chip away at the price.
With the Tesla being a 2022 it’s a mk1.5 and should be a lot better built than the earlier cars. Make sure you connect it to your WiFi, you get regular software updates and most give you extra functionality for free. You’ll need to spend £10 a month for Premium Connectivity if you want live traffic as it’s the built in Google maps or nothing, it doesn’t have Android Auto / CarPlay but it all the better for it imo.

What age is it, and what's it worth, roughly? Its a 2018 plate - first registered April. Just over 48,200 miles so probably a higher mileage example but given it has a 100k or 10yr warranty (as long as it's serviced yearly) then why not use it - kinda crazy to think it still has warranty up until April 2028 when some brand new cars wouldn't! Value is hard to judge given so few are on the market www.autotrader.co.uk/car-search?advertising-location=at_cars&make=Lexus&model=RC%20F&postcode=Sl99EX&sort=price-ascCheapest 2015 with 53k miles is 26k, there is a 2017 with sunroof and 42k miles for 34k and a 2018 from a main dealer with only 25k miles at 40k (it says 'good price' but that seems quite steep - edited to add that it's a later '68 plate which has the updated Nav screen but, I think, higher VED etc). So, I guess it would market around 34/35k from a dealer. Motorway estimate quote was 29k (without declaring pics/damage).

Thanks, I'd heard similar re: build quality - 'mine' will be on the cusp of getting the Ryzen chip and the double glazed rear glass also - but given Tesla just update when they can it could also be the last of the line without those - not that i'm bothered really - the technology will be far more than I have had before and was not a deciding factor. I'm definitely erring toward the hassle free option - the seat I'd decided on getting done and one of the mobile repairers would save approx 100 (it's higher cost as the damage covers the painted bumper and the gloss black 'diffuser' - so more effort than a single colour panel!!

If you try Motorway/CarWow, there is no commitment to sell, so there's no harm in putting it up and seeing what offers you get. You can then make a decision on selling there and then, or spending the money on rectification work and having another go..... or just sell it to alf now !

Interesting, its the same age/mileage as the QF and worth about the same!
The old ALF that spent ages driving up and down the country, with regular trips abroad, would have been interested for sure. Now I drive hardly anywhere, often drive locally for the pleasure of it, its probably not so much my thing but I'm really intrigued by them. Also while I don't have that warranty situation, mine is cosmetically about as perfect as a 6 year old/45k mile car can be - outside, inside, the wheels. Worryingly so. For its main role of sitting on the drive where I see it all the time, its ideal :-)
I know people that have had the best quotes from Carwow, and actually got them as well.....

That's a shame but at least you've now done the n/a v8 rather than lived with regret of not taking the opportunity.
It might be a good time to sell as well, early LC500s are now low £40s and while they aren't the same I can imagine most people looking at RCFs also considering them. Which might knock RCFs prices in the next year or so.
