An update: the car was scheduled to be ready on 5th January but a phone call to the garage said it was more likely to be the middle of this week. Yesterday we got a text message to say that a couple of the parts they were waiting on would not be available until 19th February! As has been said elsewhere, it's no wonder insurance costs are increasing - that will be 2 months of car hire (if they meet their timeline), no doubt at inflated rates! Sounds like JLR are still having problems with their supply chain and new Warehouse. It's probably been due to the transition planning and execution, collapsing several warehouses into one brand new one is never easy. The chose the wrong Logistics Partner

I was watching a recent episode of the M539 restorations YouTube channel where he replaced various pulleys but got the identical parts from a 3rd party for something like 10 Euro instead of the 145 that BMW wanted.

I think the specialist gave up waiting for Land Rover and obtained the required pulley from elsewhere, but it still took ages.

I think this is an industry-wide issue, not just JLR. I think I've said elsewhere, I booked mine in for the EGR software recall in October last ear with the earliest date Douglas Park had (I know, I know!) being February 13th! My mate who works in their Stirling branch says the Glasgow shop is only doing 2 of these a day at most, hence the delay. Also .. .. BMW wanted £400 each for the rear suspension airbags, but there were no official BMW ones in the country!! He sourced aftermarket pair for £300, and fitted them for £40, so I'm not complaining.

It's not just JLR that are having these problems, supply chains are squeezed for most manufacturers. I know someone who had a minor ding in their Tesla and has been without its for almost 2 months just waiting for parts. Apparently they're using so many building cars at rates they probably never expected that there's precious few spare bits to be made available for maintenance and repairs.
The other complication you have with the I Pace is that it's one of the most unique models that JLR ever made so getting generic parts will be equally impossible. If its your own decision you could look at second hand or salvage parts but insurers have to replace with new OEM parts.

Not necessarily, when my wife worked for an official Audi bodyshop the cheaper insurance companies would pressurise them to use pattern or secondhand, salvaged parts to keep repair costs down.

Maybe I'm experiencing it from the point of view of lease cars where it is a requirement of the lease that new OEM parts are needed.

Well things have taken a turn. Apparently the people that Susan hit, who were trying to cross from one side to the other of a dual carriageway main road, are now trying to claim that it was a 4 way junction and that she was speeding and ran a red light. The only lights anywhere near the accident were pedestrian lights which are after the junction they came out of.
What a complete waste of everyone's time and money to make this argument. I'd like to sue them for defamation. I hope the insurance company can ensure they are punished in some way for their blatant lies. The insurance company have clocked that there is a speed camera less than 100yds before the crash site and also that there are no traffic lights where the accident took place.
I see a dash cam being a likely purchase in the very near future. Dealing with lying gits is an exhausting experience.

I remember a woman running into the back of my wife's car while she was stationary at the top of a slip road, waiting to join a carriageway that had been reduced to one lane with cones. By the time the 3rd party had finished they had 2 independent witnesses that claimed they saw my wife reverse back in the car behind. A bit of searching revealed the "independent" witnesses worked for the husband of the woman involved. He was a big guy and came round our house acting all aggressive and basically saying "what are you going to do about it"?". Unfortunately for him I'm a bit of a cunt when things like this happen and waited until dark one night and went round his house and exacted revenge. It would have been cheaper for him to pay up for the repairs to our car.

When the Merc was hit on a roundabout by Jordan in the Cleo trying to cut lanes we drove back around the roundabout later and filmed the lanes to illustrate our successful claim. Maybe that would help the insurance co see what a lying bunch of tossers they are!

Don't need to drive back just take screenshots from Google maps.
Lying gits indeed. Hope it gets sorted. Few years back my wife had a knock in Tesco when she started reversing and the driver behind started reversing after her. She stopped and sounded her horn but before she could try and move forward they'd hit her. All very apologetic at the scene but as soon as the claim went in they stated that both cars were reversing at the time of impact and it ended up going 50/50 as it was her word against theirs.

Thankfully we have lots of photos of the accident from different angles and some Google map screenshots. It's just the grief and hassle that is completely unnecessary.
The only good news is that the i-Pace should be ready for collection today or tomorrow which is about 2 weeks earlier than expected.
