If the drop is equal on both sides then its the compressor rather than the bags. Had a good look at various YT vid last night, and I'm 95% certain it's the compressor solenoid that's gone. £19.95 on the bay of E. The other 5% option is the fuse (a 40amp one!!) which I haven't checked yet. While I'm not averse to getting my hands dirty - I actually quite enjoy it! - I haven't got the ramps needed, the fitness to be rolling around under the car, or some of the tools I'd need. (A bit of an excuse really, but there we go). Sadly, my mate who would normally do this for me is on holiday this week, so not available.

A good choice, again I'm no fan of the front end but the rest of the package makes up for that and Tanzanite is a close second to that lovely green they do. Its why BMW are well ahead of most of the competition. It can't be hard to tool sales people with the right equipment to close customers. I was in car sales over 20 years ago and it seems that nothing has changed and that most dealers have a guy who has no power to make decisions and has to refer you to the sales/business manager. If that BMW was in the Jag showroom you would still be waiting to do a deal and probably never get round to it. Yes, the customer service I've had from Porsche during and since buying it has only been ok...definitely not as good as BMW. I know I was a repeat customer of Vines but I was spending half the money and I wonder how people get and keep new customers if you don't treat them extra-well upfront. Whenever we have a new client, I work on the basis that we have to actually deliver a better and more responsive service than that client expects in order to distinguish ourselves from our many competitors. Simply being "as good" doesn't really cut it in today's hyper-competitive environment. I had my car in at the Porsche specialist for its big 4 year service yesterday. He was telling me how busy they were now that Porsche Guildford is £280+ Vat an hour. The Macans big service at 4years old is therefore over £2k while they do it for half the price. Amazing what Porsche can charge but I guess these new Gin palace dealerships don't pay for themselves.

I finally got that phone call today from the business manager at Lookers JLR Glasgow - apparently the enquiry was only put on his desk today!!!!!! I told him we had first enquired nearly a month ago and were then told that he had now gone on holiday after they had had the enquiry for at least 10 days. Then we were told he would call on Monday and this is now Wednesday. I then told him we had got a car elsewhere and he wasn't the slightest bit interested. Good luck to them!

Not sure you can count Vines as typical BMW dealer experience: IIRC they’re still old school owned and managed away from the likes of Inchcape etc. I’ve used Vines Guildford a few times: definitely a cut above.

Another vote for the i4. I am getting used to the front end, but that’s party due to the shock of the new 5er which I can’t get on with at all at present.
The overall proportions of the car are optimal and, like Ed, I am a fan of the green but that Tanzanite blue is great. As to the interface, even though Eva is now a generation and a bit behind BMW are still the best at it. I’m currently in a Skoda Octavia Combi (more on that later) and whilst I’m used to it now there are still foibles in the controls I’m finding irritating.
Great choice.

Interesting - I thought the iPace was a done deal! I don't dislike the i4, mainly as it just looks fairly standard BMW - I think after my Tesla 3 hire in the US I'd personally aim for the most power/battery available with RWD as it had a nice balance and was plenty quick enough. I'm worried enough about getting points/losing my licence in the QF - which needs to be in Dynamic or race to feel really fast - sub 4s to 60 pace and instant, silent torque sounds even more concerning!

The i-Pace does the 0-62 sprint in 4.6s so not much difference in the real world. Susan calls it the silent assassin as she picks off cars with every TLGP: she is doing 30 before they have moved a cars length which is strangely satisfying. I can do that too but everyone for a mile around has heard me!

The last time I went through Guildford (Easter Sunday), the Porsche showroom looked like a building site, so I guess you are right about someone having to pay for it.....
And tough on anyone looking to buy their first Porsche from this dealer if their initial impression is no showroom, a building site mess and all cars parked outside in a none-too-convenient location

One of my ex-bosses was very friendly with John Clark (of Motor Group 'fame') and in 2014 mentioned that although JC had their best year ever their net profit was still only 2.5 to 3% so any cock-ups could have a large effect.
I'm sure he also said that the likes of Audi told them what the showroom should look like and expected them to make that happen out of their own (corporate) pocket.
At around the same time my company took on a Mitsubishi franchise and although we got importer support for setting up a new showroom we still had to buy, for example, the right comfy chairs for the waiting area in the showroom. From memory these were about 5 times the cost of something almost identical from IKEA although we managed a saving by buying used ones from a recently ex-franchise.
