The Ctek on the 911 was throwing a red light fault, and when I tried to start it from the booster block there wasn't a flicker of life.....does this mean the battery is most likely dead. It is ancient and has been on Ctek for at least 5 years. I'm hoping a new battery will be the solution, or is there anything else I can try?
It's getting closer to coming home 😁

As the fault is while it is on charge it is probably the battery. But have you tried charging the battery when dis-connected from the car? It could be an earth fault. We used to have terrible trouble on our previous horse lorry where the batteries were new but still appeared dead. Renewing the battery leads and earth connection sorted the problem.

Same happened with the TVR. New battery sorted it.

Definitely battery. By all means check with a multimeter - if it has less than 10v in it, it's generally toast.

One of my friends has had 2 C-Tek chargers fail on him. Are you sure it's not that?
Even if it is the battery will probably have had it.

It sounds like you did all you can to save but it's dead, Jim... On the plus side, that pic did get the blood flowing Have you still got the 928? IT's one of those cars I idolised as a teenager, but have never been in (which is almost all of the cars I idolised as a teemager!). I caught the train to school and walked past a 928 GTS in the station car park every day, lovely thing......

I've still got the 928, need to use it more!
I think modern batteries seem to be less tollerant of lack of use.
