I seem to recall someone here had minor damage (car park perhaps) shortly after getting a car but can’t recall how soon after that happened. Anyway, having done less than 250 miles in the RCF I was picking up the kids from gym and after having done so waiting to exit the gates. Stationary, foot on brake waiting for car infront to move away when - bump / crunch - an Audi SUV (Q7/8) rear ended me. At no more than a crawl but frustrating to say the least. Bumper and valance below that both dented with paint damage in the perfect shape of an Audi lower grill!!

Oh, that’s super annoying! I hope they were suitably apologetic and are paying for it to be put right.

What a pain! I might have struggled to keep civil in that situation.

I used to lurk on a Porsche forum and remember one of the regulars sheepishly posting that they had spun their Boxster into a dual carriageway barrier on the way home from the dealer.

She was (of course!) apologetic - I think it was likely driven by kid distraction and these things happen.
A week ago I wouldn’t have given a toss as it would have been the old car and wouldn’t have impacted the trade in but after less than 3 full days with the car and it having been more than 7 yrs since anyone else had scraped my car it’s very frustrating.
I will be getting quote for a fix first thing Monday and take it from there.

It was the third day and under 100 miles for me in the X3 when a septuagenarian motorcyclist rear ended me in Northumberland. Hope it all gets sorted OK.

That's annoying, hope it gets sorted.
I opened the Subaru drivers door onto a fence post in the first week of ownership.

That is very annoying, I was once rear ended by an old Landrover at some trafficligts. In my first brand new car with about 500 miles on the clock and about a week old as I was going to show my mother my new SEAT Ibiza./cool s (Aircon no less!)
It is incredibly frustrating, hope easily repaired

Oh no !! I’ve been utterly paranoid since getting mine, largely due to the prep and ceramic coating it had. I feel really bad for you!! Clay bar and polish it, it might look pretty insignificant then until you get it fixed. I have plenty of experience in that (rarely as the driver I add).
Tina nearly wrote the red jag off a few months after we met (which in turn was just after I got that car). I have dash cam footage of that, epic oversteer both ways after she put a wheel on the mud on a too-narrow wet Belgian motorway roadworks section ! At one stage we were about 45 degrees out of shape, I was facing the barrier on my side thinking “that’s it for this car then - and I won’t be able to afford anything as good as a replacement” (having recently separated) with that lucidity you have in those moments…
Good luck getting it sorted !

Crumbs! A frosty atmosphere in the car for the next hour or two?

It’s only plastic and paint at the end of the day and the car wasn’t perfect so am being pragmatic about the whole thing. There is a very good body shop a few miles up the road so will take it there first thing for a quick assessment and quote. Your sideways adventure sounds intense!!

Come to think of it I only had my Lexus 3 weeks before a Transit rear ended it on the A19.

Never had damage early in the ownership of a car, large bus hitting me in February, almost a year after I got the car is probably the closest. At the other end of the spectrum, the week before I put my X5 on the market when I moved back from California, I got rear ended at a stop sign, cracking the rear bumper but it wasn’t really noticeable unless you looked.

What an utter pain. Really feel your annoyance but at least she apologised and took responsibility instead of trying to argue it was somehow your fault. I think the Insignia I used to have had its first run in with another car when it was just 2 days old when a neighbours managed to leave the handbrake off on their Mondeo.

That's really annoying.
On a new (to you or really brand new) car and you're lucky, you get some bit of trivial damage out of the way early. Relaxes the whole "tension of a new car" thing. If you're unlucky, it's a body shop and / or worse. Mrs PG scraped the Shogun on a gate post when it was a week old. I backed my Freelander into a parked car when it was about a month old.
A friend of ours had his work van written off last year by an elderly couple who had managed 400 yds from the VW dealer in their new i3.
