Excellent - Indeed superb - work!!!!! I LOVE these personally, just needed more rear seat space/5 seats (which ironically I managed with only 4 belts...). Further proof we have very similar taste in cars.... A mini meet is mandatory Love the detailing - outside, inside, and under bonnet...

Congratulations, I'm sure you'll enjoy it! Looks like one of the easier of RCF wheel designs to clean as well.

Very nice. I bet that's built like nothing else available. Fits your brief as well, which as we all get older and more set in our ways is a hard job.

Excellent! Smart colour combination, some nice details and the warranty extending with each service + Lexus build quality should equal a good ownership experience. .
Good choice.

Glad you took the plunge. It is a brave choice against some of the obvious German contenders but I can't help thinking it'll be a more rewarding one. Lexus and indeed Toyota products have a reputation for great quality for good reason so I've no doubt this will live up to that and the dealership experience if you service it there will be streets ahead of most other brands. That engine looks great too. Enjoy.

I've always liked the 5 litre RC from the day it came out, together with the LC. Really well screwed together with thought and attention to detail. I am sure you will enjoy it but if I can give one word of advice, just fill it up and don't think about the numbers: when you start it up again to leave the petrol station all will be forgiven.

Lol - good advice, I'm fortunate in that I have a fuel card - yes, this will cost me a chunk more than the 1-Series in fuel but it's not something I have to worry about on a day to day basis

I have mine up when my private mileage dropped below about 20k/yr as it didn’t make sense financially. Or do you just put all your fuel through then the private mileage cost/proportion is taken taken from your salary. We have a lot of people on that type of scheme.

Everything goes on the card and the cost is shown on my P11D at the end of the year as a cash equivalent benefit amount. It may not be the right approach and I'm open to advice but it's a scheme that I was grandfathered into a long time back and not having to pay out of pocket each week/month makes the day to day far easier.

I’m about 20 years out of date, I’m sure someone will be along to help. A quick google and a bit of rough maths suggests you would the tax is c£4k a year so you would have to do around 15-17000 private miles a year to make it worthwhile. It will be more of a benefit with the new car than the old one!

As an example, the total cash equivalent benefit listed on my P11D for 2022 was about £2500 for this line item (cost of the fuel I used)
So I assume my tax implication is that times my tax rate
(I do zero business miles)

Wherever the reason, if you only pay tax on the value of the fuel then it’s definitely worth having.

Martin you are correct re the calculation if there was a company car. Where there is no company car, the payment of the fuel card is just treated in the same way as your employer paying for your supermarket shopping each month - you get taxed on the amount they pay. I had a look at fuel cards for a client recently and one thing he noticed was that they didn't allow the purchase of premium fuel (V-Power). Since he has a 911, that put an end to that.

My card allows for premium fuel purchases - and doubles as an EV card should I ever move to one of those. It’s a Shell Recharge card.
Either way, the RCF has both E10 and E5 on the filler flap so could use either.
Sorry, yes, forgot to say that there is no company car involved. I do get an allowance in its place and am, of course, taxed in that as if its wage also.

Very tidy - do these use the same gearbox as the LC500 ?
The only ones I have seen have been in that rather sudden metallic blue - it looks very smart in the grey.
What's the build quality like ? Is it 100% rattle free ?

Is it 100% rattle free ? It’s not the same gearbox - it’s an 8 speed Aisin contraption. Similarly criticised for it not being quite as sharp as the competition but it (clearly) wasn’t a deal breaker. I hardly ever see these which is part of the appeal but having said that I saw 2 grey ‘normal’ RCs within 1 mile on the same road before I got this!! It’s a nice grey (!) and whilst I’m not averse to a snazzier colour it works well and it’s hard to say how much better it looks in person compared to the pictures. And yes, 100% rattle/shake free over even the worst roads. It really does feel ‘vault-like’ but I am coming from a 15yr old 1-series (though the build quality of this is way above the 640d Gran Coupe I had - a 65 plate even if the infotainment controls on the BMW were way better!)

Unless you're Jeremy Clarkson, of course, then it is indeed, "Lexi". Can't believe I have Googled this..... "The plural of “Lexus” is “Lexuses".......In a history of the car, Lexus: The Relentless Pursuit (2011), Chester Dawson writes that “Lexus” was a shortening (and a respelling) of an earlier choice for the brand name: “Alexis.”
After a little fiddling, Dawson writes, “the group stumbled upon the neologism Lexus.”
How should this linguistic creation be pluralized in English? Like any other noun ending in “s,” it’s made plural by adding “es”—hence, “Lexuses.”
Lexus marketing wonks can pretend the plural of Lexus is Lexus - but it isn't. Lexi would be acceptable if the word Lexus was Latin. In future - I think I will say " Lexus vehicles "
