Isn't the same said of the Peugeot 205GTI - its just a pity that has a weedy downturned pipe on it.

Well, my XR2 had 96 BHP at the wheels and I believe a standard one made that at the flywheel? Like I said, it may have been the XR2i. How did you manage 96 at the wheels without other mods? That's pushing 115-120 at the crank - good going for a carbed 8v 1.6.

Mine had a full custom 2 1/2" stainless system from the manifold back, but it was rocking some serious head and cam work so needed it. I quite liked the (hidden) downturned pipe on the 172 Cup, so much so that I kept it even when I upgraded to a full stainless system.

Best was my mates old mini at college. He removed all silencers and backboxes and just fitted a straight through pipe!

My Sprite had a straight through exhaust plus a variety of other modifications (it was like that when I bought it) and was 1340cc by the time I'd had the engine rebuilt, which wasn't the first time it had been done. It sounded like a competition Mini.
