Would have had a brace of penalties but not the golden one, no, not taking it seriously just an observation.
Good to see the red cars do well and Merc, McLaren running well too.
I reckon Carlos deserved that win and backing up Norris to slow down the Mercs was a sharp piece of tactical nous too.
Bloody sad what happened to George, so close but that does not get the top seats anywhere. Nice race from him

Its was a tedious GP for the first 40 odd laps. We can only thank Alpines unreliability for the shake up.
I found it odd that Merc pitted both cars. I'd have left George in P2 and stopped Lewis. Same applies to Ferrari not stopping Charles.
Good recovery from Max, the RB's looked at coming home last. Lets see what happens next week, some are suggesting the new rules have hobbled them but probably more to do with ride heights and Singapore.
As for George, what can you say, as soon as Lando hit the wall he was going in harder. Hopefully he doesn't beat himself up about it too much.
As for Singapore, I think it needs to go from the calendar, the race is boring, ran at 80% pace, to hot, no history and its not even alone as a night race.

The season behind the freak cars has been this good but it’s not been for the win until yesterday. Strange how RBR had an off weekend with skittish cars at the race where F1 reiterated its stance on flexibility of parts 🤔
George: looked like a rookie error but pushing for that win can be the limit or over the limit for anyone. Like many others I reckon Mercedes should’ve swapped with three laps to go but fair play to Toto et al, not interfering with play.
Carlos has continually upset the tifosi because he’s clearly the match or better than Charles who holds some kind of place on a pedestal. He’s a great thinking racer as is his dad and should get more credit than he does - based on some of his previous races he’s overdriven to prove his position against golden boy but now he’s got his Wins and Poles out of the way he can just drive properly.
Stroll has about 5 races of his F1 career left. Whatever happens with Toro Rosso, Liam Lawson will have a seat next season making for some merry-go-round shenanigans.

Liam Lawson for me has always been a terrific driver. Any driver who can instantly go and win in Super Formula must be a great driver. He just races anything, and does it terrifically. F2, a GT3 Ferrari, F1 car – some of these youngsters like Lawson, Robert De Haan (in Carrera Cup GB) etc are just spookily good at such a young age. Lawson unquestionably needs to be at AT next year. I would ditch Tsunoda personally; too inconsistent, too many verbal dramas and not enough speed. I don’t think the battle at AT is between Lawson and Ricciardo. I think it’s between Lawson and Tsunoda. There is no reason for Tsunoda to stay, now that Red Bull have completely detached themselves from Honda.
I thought that Singapore was okay, for Singapore. Which is not saying much. I thought it was a better race because they missed out that fiddly tunnel section where Piquet Jr pressed the right pedal too much in 2008. The track flowed much better. It got me thinking, can they delete any other corners at Singapore? More straights and fewer corners would be better. I hope they stick with the 2023-track for next year and beyond, at the very least.
There are elite drivers all across racing who can manage their tyres subtly better than others, but it turns out to be a significant difference overall. I felt that Russell mismanaged his tyres in that final stint, he pushed too hard to get to Leclerc and Norris. And when he got there, he started to oversteer and struggle for traction himself. Hamilton looked a lot faster in those closing laps. Verstappen, Hamilton and Alonso know when to push and when not to. It’s why they are multiple world champions. Russell will get there, his one-lap pace is often staggering, pulling out laps from nowhere - Singapore 2023 and Hungary 2022 spring to mind. But the managment and consistency over a race distance doesn't sound exiciting, but its necessary to be the best.
As for Stroll. His tankslapper was blamed on that kerb. I mean c'mmon, nobody has ever crashed there. Lando Norris thought that relatively flat kerb needed to be flattened further. Maybe traction control should return too, just in case a driver loses control?

Maybe traction control should return too, just in case a driver loses control? Or maybe F1 should remember that it's supposed to be the pinnacle and they should expect drivers to be able to cope a bit better? I haven't watched an F1 race for a long time and nowadays barely even remember to check the results. Looking down the list of finishers there were a couple of names I've just never heard of, Lawson being one.

You have to ask where all the moaners are that gave Dr Marko so much grief for culling De Vries. Turned out to be a master stroke, though even Helmut couldn't have orchestrated how that would have turned out. RB better make another harsh decision on Tsunoda/Ricciardo quick.
If I was Williams I'd be all over Lawson offering a big money contract and snipe him for RB quick. He deserves an F1 drive and RB know it. They've gone from too few to too many drivers in half a season.

If I were Aston, I would have him over as quick as, get him in quick and send a certain son to play tennis. I do not think as harshly of Stroll as others but if they want success they need to act quickly and strengthen the driver line up.
