Well yesterday I dropped off the gt3 and picked up the vantage .
The only thing I need to say about the gt3 is I have never kept anything longer than 18 months before but this lasted 5 years ,and if you get an opportunity to own or drive one do it (although I would say I doubt it would have lasted 5 years if I still Lived in Manchester )
The aston is something else although the gearbox will take some serious learning ,it’s not the dog leg bit it’s the gap between the gears are too close ,and dynamically it’s way off a gt3 but that was the intention to have something as thrilling but that didn’t egg you on to drive at insane speeds .

I very much doubt the time will be boring, enjoy.

Yep: driven a 991.2 GT3 and GT3 RS. Wouldn’t buy one unless I had enough time and money to take it to a track regularly. Fabulous.
Not sure about Astons over the past decade but that’s more lack of exposure than anything else.
Enjoy yourself.

Wow, looks fabulous that. Mrs Sacamano has said that if she wins the lottery she'll buy me an Aston. I need to get her to buy more tickets.

I missed the other thread. So this is a V12 Vantage? Very nice if so. Always liked these, a proper British muscle car.

The car is going in for ppf so will post up pics when it’s back and the weather isn’t so crap. Ed it’s a v12s manual (the one with the silly dogleg box)

You've played a blinder here Franki, one of the most desirable petrol-head cars out there for sensible-ish money! I look forward to seeing what you think of it. V12 eh............

Some random thoughts ,the car is in for ppf currently .
Genuinely the gt3 has the best electric steering I have encountered but reverting back to hydraulic is eye opening ,the level of detail it feeds back is quite amazing .Having been loaned a fiesta with possibly the worst electric steering I have encountered magnifies this even more .
The engine is just epic ,the sound it makes is just lovely but the pull in any gear is ridiculous which is a good job (see the gearbox comments) but it also has another level when you use all the revs .
The brakes are epic ,astons always done good brakes and these are no exception .
The car is very well balanced but it is a bit unhinged ,you need care when driving it ,it has nowhere near the grip or traction of a modern 911 but you can make incredibly rapid progress in it.I intend only to use in the dry as in the wet it is just silly .
The interior is lovely and just so much nicer than the current gen astons (Mercedes) but full of annoying quirks . The dials look lovely but you cannot read them ,there is nowhere to put an iPhone pro the storage area is too small , stupidly located seat controls etc .
The infotainment is not as bad as made out ,helped by the fact the 2017 model year had a significant update .in fact the CarPlay actually integrates better than in the Porsches .The lack of a touchscreen is only an issue when say entering destinations as it is slow using a joystick to enter stuff and I do miss voice control.
The seats are crap , they look good but do not offer sufficient side support and aren’t especially comfortable ,it is early days and I am still messing with all the settings though so hopefully I can find a suitable set up.
The gearbox is just odd ,the dog leg is annoying but not because of the layout but because the gaps between the gears are not where they should be .First and reverse require a very hefty shove to the left but once you are moving it does make sense as you flip between 2-3 and 3-4 .I found myself not bothering with first quite often as the car will pull from standstill in 2 and 3 .However the extra layer of interaction is nice as it’s the first manual I have had since the gt4.
There is one potential issue in that since acquiring the car an old shoulder injury has recurred that I haven’t had for a good few years and I am hoping it is not related to the manual box as the last time I suffered from this was when I had the gt4 .
It’s very early days and lots to learn but it’s a very lovely thing indeed .

Sounds great Franki and it's interesting to hear the quirks that come with day to day ownership. I must admit I had heard of 'tennis elbow' but not 'Aston dogleg shoulder', should keep your physio busy!

Sounds good!
Good luck with it, but if the shoulder gets really bad I'll happily keep the discs from rusting for you....
