Drove to SK from Strasbourg yesterday. Still not many electric cars on the Autobahn and none in the fast lane. I did see a Zoë giving it large, however.
But the post is about this: one of the German Green contingent arguments for restrictions on the Autobahn is that it burns more child killing carbons. Does this then lead to a counter argument, and one which may accelerate more efficient battery development, that there can be an ICE/PHEV limit and an unrestricted electric/hydrogen limit?
I saw more charging stations this summer and assessed cross-European travel to be more viable but retain the concerns regarding ongoing charging on arrival and milling around.

I'm still very interested in range at autobahn speeds (say cruising at 200kph) - you see very few electric cars playing this game. It obvs affects range a lot in an ICE car, but I'm only pulling about 2500rpm in top at 120mph, it never feels awful on MPG.
One of the biggest reasons for autobahn speed restrictions is noise, which is more tyre noise than anything. Also about hald of damaging particulate emissions from vehicles comes from tyres and brakes, so there will always be a contingent that is not happy until we're all back in stone huts stabbing rats to stay alive.
