0-100 in under 4 seconds … astonishing although I’m not convinced I would want to experience it,

I’m fairly certain 99% of customers won’t be able to control it.

That kind of acceleration is going to need sticky tyres, dead straight and absolutely no damp or loose stones. You see the Youtube videos of the (supposed car nuts and reasonable drivers) numpties going for a power slide or even in a straight line and losing it big time (the X3M losing it in a straight line on a London street and destroying 5 or 6 parked cars springs to mind). On normal tyres and normal roads there would be rather a lot of bent Lucids if they allowed that sort of power to be applied on the public road.

Just what we don't need on the road. Though the only electric car I have ever seen being given the beans is a Honda e that was diving in and out of traffic. I've yet to be humiliated by a Tesla in the TLGP

Presume that figure is for the Sapphire 1500 bhp variant ?
Watch from 3 min 50 seconds
That's 0 to 320 km/h in about 19 seconds (200mph in old money).
I think the Plaid with only 1020 bhp is almost on par with a Chiron.
You can buy LHD Plaid today direct from Tesla UK - £115k. They have quite a few in stock

I've yet to be humiliated by a Tesla in the TLGP I quite regularly see a VW ID3 being driven hard on the way home from Dundee. I've always assumed it was a VW salesman heading home after a bad day, it's not driven well! I once overtook a Prius in the 370 leaving a 30 limit and the driver presumably wasn't happy and gave it the lot as I started the manoeuvre. aside from anything I was unimpressed due to the stupidity of his actions - he'd been happy dawdling along at 50ish prior to going into the 30. Obviously a Prius isn't as fast as a Lucid though

There will come a point where the acceleration of electric cars is limited by law.

I sometimes wonder about that when I'm walking across the carpark at Tesco and see some older person in a Tesla (at the current point I'd say at least 50% of electric car buyers are retired/nearly retired, probably due to affordability) is driving around. It's bad enough when a pensioner accidentally steps on the accelerator instead of the brake while parking a Fiesta, imagine the result of the same in a Tesla, etc.

At some stage all cars will have to be self drive capable and linked to the road train syste,. There will be no acceleration and no ability to do anything other than sit there waiting for the tinkle of glass. Or crumple of a cyclist/pedestrian bouncing across the bonnet.

I saw a lot of them when I was in the Bay Area last year. The factory/facility in Fremont is huge and very impressive looking- way more upmarket looking than Tesla which in fairness, is repurposed GM and Toyota buildings. I think they’re a better looking car than Teslas are. I spoke to one of the senior directors there a number of times, he’s from Manchester and worked with JLR and Nissan before moving over to California in 2021.

Can't seem to quote your post properly Rodge! My point was going to be though, that IMO the only Tesla anywhere near attractive is the Model S. The others are either too bloated or so disproportionate front to back, they look utterly bizarre!
