It's arrived .Car was at the docks ready to ship 3weeks ago then porsche did a recall on all 911s so it sat on the dock awaiting inspection for a potential faulty oil pipe .Very frustrating . Literally just picked it up and heading home ,liking the new pcm a lot and currently showing 29mpg which is ridiculous for the performance . Mind you I am taking it easy letting the brakes bed in etc ,but no run in period needed .
Bit early to say but the rws is sensational ,easily the most nimble 911 I have driven .

Very nice. I'm a tart so would have gone for something a bit more lairy like Miami Blue but really like the GTS. How does the Turbo suit the car?

I really like that, congratulations. The Cayenne looks a bit out of place, though...

Give me some time on that one,it is stupidly fast..probably fastest car I have had, sounds great ,in comfort setting there is lag ,but none detectable in sport and sport plus settings ...but it's not an n/a engine.

Black wheels aside, that is really, really nice!
Just read the Autocar review which ends:
"Should I buy one?
Of course. It’s as if this were the 911 that Porsche’s engineers designed first in this series, the one from which all others would be derived, only then to realise it was better even than they’d hoped, and must, therefore, be kept their sleeves for a while. So only once all the Carreras and Turbos were safely launched could it be unleashed.
All nonsense of course, cars aren’t designed that way, but that’s how it feels. The GTS is the best ‘normal’ 911 on sale, and the rear-drive coupe the best of the best. And it is every bit as good as that sounds."

Excellent news, have loads of fun with it. Have you heard anything regarding the GT3 allocation yet? They and no other opcs have been given any extra cars this year.they will get next years allocation in October time so will Know then, and if they do get any then I will get one apparently.

Seriously cool, or very bleep nice. TYP. The 911 is a great machine. I hope it does what 911 says on the tin, magic.

Has Porsche moved to touch-screen nav? Wondering if my OCD could cope with the smudges!
First world problems and beyond...

Porsche Nav has been touch screen for quite a few years, our Boxster has it, but thankfully you can use it without having to touch the screen.

That looks awesome Love the 335d too. Would like to hear more of your thoughts on both Bit early on the gts,but a few initial impressions. Pros Bloody quick, regardless of anything it just goes like a steam train ...and revs out as well . Sounds very good Love my spec..the seats ,sunroof ,leather, bose etc etc ,feel I chose really well ,maybe improve it with ceramic brakes but these are brakes from the turbo so the steel ones are pretty superb. The rear steering is fantastic, some say they dont notice a difference but I really do.Not encountered any understeer yet anywhere ..car is like a scalpel . PDk ...just brilliant, gearchanges are instant Ride ..is very good considering how it handles ,and most remarkably you can use the firm setting on the suspension on the road, this is the first car I have had where that is possible ,every other one the firm set up was really for track only. BOdy control...beyond brilliant, put into focus driving any other car .Regardless of the road the car sticks to your chosen line . The bose system...I have always had bose in porsche (aside from the gt4) but always disappointed by it,not with this one,by far the best version of the porsche /bose system I have used. 18 way adaptive seats...life saver for my back after the buckets in the gt4 steering...simply put porsche have nailed electric steering .There is feel ,superb accuracy and although I thought it was very good on the gt4 but they have improved it . cons PDk...If I am honest on very certain occasions I really miss a manual box,as superb as the pdk is you do lose an element of interaction. On the other hand it is so fast I appreciate not having to think about gearchanges and being able to keep hands on wheel, also The pdk is so good in auto modes I am not sure there is any pleasure to be had in using it in manual mode....for me a shame. Engine...its brilliant ,sounds great ..in normal mode you can feel lag ,but in sport plus mode or manual mode I really cannot detect much if any....but its not N/A ,hard to say what exactly it is missing but ideally I would prefer an n/a engine.By far the best turbo engine I have experienced . The PDK paddles...they are tactile ..but too small..they don''t extend enough so your fingers are always stretching if you want to use them. 335d Car has really grown on me the more I use it. Very quick and the engine is lovely for a diesel ...makes a decent noise and pulls like a train. Steering has grown on me,has no feel but if its in sport setting it is pretty accurate. Ride is maybe a bit firm compared to say the allroad but that had air suspension, but I have done a 10 hour stint in car with ease. awd is very useful with this engine. Very pleased with spec only thing missing is the stereo system is weak, sound quality is good but there is no power . Reading up the harmon kardon set up would have been ideal but apparently a amp and speaker replacement works very well if you want to improve it. Overall would have to say it is probably up there with a golf r/gti as all the car you ever really need ,especially when you flip form comfort to sport ,really makes a big difference .

The pdk is so good in auto modes I am not sure there is any pleasure to be had in using it in manual mode....for me a shame. Sounds fab. On the above point, I know exactly what you mean. I almost never use the paddles in my GC because the automatic frankly just does it better most of the time and therefore there seems precious little point in playing with the paddles other than simply for the sake of it.
Whereas on the M5, the SMG gearbox was so horrid left to its own devices, that I always used the paddles. IIRC you had an M6 and therefore know what I mean...

Just some further random thoughts and revisions of initial impressions.
There is lag,it is hidden when in sport modes because the engine keeps the revs above 2.5k.
The sound is really good...but you can't hear it in the car.Only with windows and sunroof open does it transmit into the cabin.
Very tactile gear levers ..but too short ,fingertips just reach them and I feel they need a few more centimetres to allow you to properly hook your hands behind them.
that little 'power' button on the steering wheel is hysterical fun...need to overtake a car or 4 ,press it and it primes the car for max attack and I can only describe it like wArp drive.
On the road I would say it is actually better than the gt3.1 because it is so more useable/accessible . I think the gt3.2 will be better though as it has a much Much better mid range than the gt3.1 .

Missed this thread as I was in Corfu.
Nice new toy. An old school friend I meet at various dinners popped round in his C2S a few weeks back. There is just some kind of strange attraction about 911s. It's not the same as Ferrari-type drooling lust but some other type of "want".
Also not sure about the Cayenne but they're great inside.
