I was a bit naughty the other day and I floored the accelerator but the good news is I wasn't doing a traffic light grand prix, this was when going up a rather steep bank.
I noticed that there's a bit of a notch between almost to the floor and to the floor... So, the question is do they all do that or is it just mine? I thought it might be some sort of kickdown point or something but I can't say I noticed any difference in acceleration before and after this notch.
Cheers if anyone knows.

Every automatic I’ve driven has a kick down switch. If you were already accelerating in the lowest gear for that speed then it wouldn’t make a difference

The kick-down switch on some cars also acts to cut the aircon to ensure that maximum power is delivered. On "modern" cars, it also acts to override any safety devices that may be attempting to slow the car, for example if AEB has decided to activate even though there is nothing in front of you

My manual truck has such a switch. It overrides the speed limiter.

Looks like it might be normal then. Thanks guys.
I can't say that I remember this notch with either my S Type or SLK but they were a long time ago and I might have forgotten.
I'm enjoying the Evoque and I'm not looking forward to making a decision on selling a car or two if Mrs WW wants a car. I'm hoping she warms to driving the Evoque. As I said before, I can't see why she wont drive it as her XTrail must be about the same size or even bigger.

Pretty sure I recall some older family member using the kickdown button as an on-off accelerator switch on one occasion. May have even been me 🤔
