Mrs. R has been driving a fiesta since we moved back to Ireland and it’s 20 years old. It’s still going but makes a lot of noise and needs work so we’ve been looking at cars for a few months. On Tuesday, I went to see this and then took it for a test drive today. She loves the size of the fiesta but wanted something a bit higher off the ground, so having tested and been very happy with the car, I put a deposit on it. It’s a 2016 Cross Polo, has an automatic/dsg gearbox, a 1.2 litre petrol engine that has a mighty 90bhp, ac, is copper coloured, has reversing cameras and radar controlled cruise… It has 59,000 miles on it and one small scratch on the front bumper. The only thing it didn’t come with was CarPlay, so they are installing that for me in the dealers. The fiesta is worth nothing- so they are giving me an extended warranty for scrapping it. My dad came and had a look at it with me and he was very impressed. We get it in 2 weeks and it will be fully serviced and prepped. As a runabout car, it will be excellent. Very happy with it.

VW stopped selling the Cross Polo in England when that shape came out. There are a few imports about. The 89/90bhp engine is a bit of a gem if you get one that's been looked after. If I hadn't wanted an auto I'd have hung onto the one I got younger daughter as a stopgap. The Cross Polo has now been replaced by the T Cross but the 1.2 engine has gone and I'm not sure if the 1.0 3 cylinder that replaced it is better or worse, even if its got more power.
And thats definitely the best colour for that shape Polo, again not offered in England

I like the colour, copper colours seem to be on trend at the moment.

We had the option of 2 different red ones and there were also a lot of A1/A2’s available but this was the Polo that she really liked. I really like the interior of it. The seats give fantastic back support.

You got climate control too? Almost no Polos of that shape have climate control in England, just "basic" air con. It's surprising the difference between specifications in different European markets

Good choice and, like others say, the colour is fabulous. We need more colourful cars.

Picked the car up today. It is a Japanese import- something I never thought I’d end up buying, but the car is immaculate. Have been fiddling around with the new sound system and got it working now, and it’s connecting to her phone. The CC works well too- it’s a stuffy day here today so getting into a car that’s blowing cold air is a real blessing. It’s also quiet, and most importantly, the Mrs. is very happy with it.
Having bought 2 cars and a house over the past 16 months, my bank account has taken a beating so that’s my spending over for a while!
The killer is the same garage was selling some very nice current 330E’s and they were priced well too. I’ll be back to deal with them again. They were very professional and helpful, they also still have the E30 M3 in the showroom and it’s still a dream garage car for me. Maybe in a few years…
The Fiesta (which was nicknames Bluey) had 227426 miles on it when we traded it in. Just over 11,000 miles a year.
The Polo since it’s ginger, is already called Ed, after Ed Sheeran.
