I sympathise with her plight. It's not right that she went misdiagnosed but so often with rare illnesses they present with symptoms that are typical of much more common conditions. Easy to point fingers at her GP but it's a consequence of our NHS physicians being overworked and not having the time to take sufficient rest breaks let alone properly deal with their patients. Whether that's the case here or it was just medical malpractice will I'm sure come out at inquest when she passes but we do have to deal with the wider issue of not enough GPs and the pressures put upon them to help prevent cases such as this.

Low GP numbers are a feature of the NHS system, not a bug.

It's a feature of instant diagnosis and points and prizes lists. If they can divert a patient to the regular lkist and anti depressants or some other cheap low input treatment, they will do it. The real money is in the points and prizes patients. They genuinely get more money for those. I am going to locat the gp funding resume by a British based gp who sums up the priorities byt saying, "Every penny going into patient care is a penny NOT in your pocket. GP's = private contractors as do hospital consultants.
