Managed to get a 45 minute drive of a portofino .
Car was in Rosso with black roof and had every extra possible on it including the exterior carbon pack . It was rather lovely too ,incredibly comfortable and useable and I would have no issue using it every day for everything (although that isn’t its purpose) . The question was always going to be did I not hate the steering as all previous Ferraris I really didn’t like the ridiculously quick steering that had no real feel and made the cars feel very nervous .This rack was quick but less so and it felt good although lacking in feel compared to the gt3. The ride was excellent ,and the brakes and gearchange absolutely top draw (I thought I would struggle to find a dual clutch as quick as the gt3 but this is easily a match ). The interior was loaded with carbon fibre & scores big points in the ‘how it makes you feel ‘ The engine was a strange one ,it does not feel like a normal turbo engine ,it pulls hard but also likes to Rev .It’s very fast (sub 7 seconds to 100) but feels good even at low speeds ,the only complaint is at crawl speeds and start up the sound is a bit of a noise ,it doesn’t have the magic that n/a engines have but it sounds better the faster you go .
Overall it’s very impressive and goes to the top of the list to replace the gt3 .
Will post pic up another time along with the quite incredible ‘la Ferrari ‘development car they had in the showroom (which was sold ,god knows how much for)

I struggle with the looks if I’m being honest. That and this model comes across as the Ferrari for people who don’t actually want a Ferrari.
It’s certainly very different to a GT3 but then how do you follow a GT3 without going crazy expensive like a Pista.
Nice colour!

It’s a very good car , yes it’s a Ferrari for someone who doesn’t want the attention a mid engined car gets or for someone who wants a more useable Ferrari . The gt3 is almost impossible to follow tbh ,I’ve driven supposedly the best turbo engines cars and the gt3 engine is on a different planet .

The lovely looking sales lady got a bit ahead of herself as I received a link to 'register my Ferrari ' this morning just before I called her to tell her I won't be buying any of their cars.

Ferrari in Glasgow also have magnificent looking sales people. They must think that by massaging the ego of the potential buyer with big smiles and flirty behaviour they have a higher success rate.

We were just going in to the Costa drive through across the road having purchased £1,500 of tiles for the bathroom we are currently redoing - that might buy a few badges or a set of mats for one of those Ferrari's! The sun was out and there was a surprisingly large number of people on the forecourt with two seriously attractive sales assistants. My wife thought I was looking at the cars!!

In my much younger days, a very attractive sales lady in a supermarket got me to sign up to a book club. I was on an away audit job in some god forsaken place, I was lonely, I was easy meat! I had to buy a few books before I could cancel, but it at least made that lunchtime pass quicker.

Is a Portofino meaningfully cheaper than a Roma? I know one is open and the other isn’t, but I do find the Roma quite a bit better-looking - there is something a faintly chintzy and “Mar-a-Lago” about the Portofino.

As if that fat fuck Trump could get in and out of a Ferrari! (but if he could, he'd be the best ever at getting in and out of a Ferrari)

There does seem a fair irony that its vibe is more Puerto Banus then its namesake. Do love the look of the Roma though in TDF over Tan.
