The Mini’s wheels are quite frankly dreadful. I also think they’ve gone porous as the TPMs cry foul far too often.
So my question is shall I refurb them or…..
I’ve got a set of pretty nice genuine alloys in my eBay basket for £500 with good tyres on (although I’d keep the Cross Climates we’ve got whatever.) These look pretty good but have the odd nick on them. The Mini is far from immaculate but it’s pretty clean all round for an 8yo car with 70k so I wouldn’t refurb them unless the guy did me a deal involving him having the other set.
Any views? (I expect a refurb to be £100 a corner btw).

A decent refurb should sort out the porosity. I'd get the set in your basket and take it from there. When were you thinking of swapping the crossclimates and can you do it yourself or do you have a local garage/tyre place who would do it for a reasonable cost?

I might just go and speak to the guy in Chessington I used for the Gorilla once.

Are the wheels in your basket the same size? Don't "over-wheel" a Mini, he says from experience.

A full powder coat should sort the porous problem for a few years. Up here you can get 4 wheels done for about £250/£300

I found a place in Surbiton so I’m taking it there for the OE wheels to be refurbished. £350.
Yes the other set were the same size.

Totally chuckable though.

Ours has 17s wearing Goodyear Eagle F1s, and the ride is firm but not unacceptably so. Ours came with 18's and run flats. They looked great, had no give at all and the road noise quickly became a right pain on any longer trips. So we sold those and bought a set of 17's. The 17's still have run flats and when they wear out I'm going to swap the tyres for non run flats.
