Put this here as she’s kind of the fabric of political reporting. My question follows and has been inspired by W2.1 commenting on her lot in life.
So the question: how bad can her life have been back home to spend decades traipsing around the worst parts of the war torn world?

Interesting question. I have wondered similarly in the past (see also Lyse Doucet and possibly even Kate Adie decades ago). I genuinely don't know. Presumably there's a big adrenalin buzz, but... it must be difficult for people like this to react happily to good news.

My best man’s wife is a leading war correspondent, currently for CNN. I found it really interesting to read her book. It’s a good insight into how she ended up in that world and what keeps her doing it.
