It changed a few years ago. Originally the X models were all 4wd so it didn't matter but when they went downsize they introduced 2wd versions hence S-drive. This only appears to apply to X models though. My 430d is just that, not an S-Drive whereas the 4wd version is an X-Drive. Clear? As slightly diluted mud!

Finally saw one - nearly missed it as it was already dirty so didn't stand out as a new car - a Hyundai.

Well, after not seeing any, in the space of a few miles on the A1 to Berwick I saw 2 Tesla Model Ys, a Mini Clubman, Lexus NX, and a flat bed light pick up.

I did have a suspicion about that but didn't check. I finally saw a couple in Windermere at the weekend. Not, as expected, JLR products but sadly the first one was a BMW X6M. I had walked past it and not realised but walked past a second time and spotted the plate. I immediately spotted another 72 plate being worn by some sort of trike but have absolutely no idea what its called. I saw no JLR products with a 72 plate but there were a lot of very shiny ones on private plates.

Since when have the X-models downsized? The original X5 was huge at the time, the current one is simply enormous, and I'm pretty sure that each generation of X1 and X3 has grown over their predecessors. The X2 and X7 are still in their first generations, I believe

Ah, I was thinking of model downsizing, not range downsizing
