Had a mishap yesterday. In the heat I've been keeping the tractor door open to get some draft through the cab. No aircon! The shed we keep the tractor in has a lip to drive over the get in. I'd pulled the door closed - or so I thought - but it had not caught the latch properly and came open as I went over the lip. It helpfully opened itself on the gas arm that opens it and therefore hit the metal stanchion of the building as the tractor was going forward. A competition between a tractor, a metal RSJ and a flimsy door frame is only going to end one way. OK, we're insured and I can get it fixed. Or so I thought. It appears that as the tractor is a 1997 model, they no longer make the doors as spares. Glass yes. The actual frame no. There is a chance that a door from a later model of the same tractor might fit - our tractor engineer is trying to find out. Otherwise, I've either got to find a second hand one or hope he can straighten it enough to maybe close it with perspex in if the glass won't fit. Am I allowed a quick swear? Fuck, arseholes, bastards, fuckers, I hate this heat.

Oh dear. Been there myself with a college tractor. Little John Deere with a faulty door latch and it bounced open going through a gateway. They make a hell of a bang when they go.

Shit happens. I would have thought you would be able to get a used one from somewhere.

What model is it? TL70? I shall ask around at this end.

Where was the place Harry used to get a spare for his combine? I'd have thought any half decent fabricators could make a frame up?

And it took ages to clear up the glass from the hardcore yard. I'm just glad the glass went all over the yard rather than inside the cab.

Hi Mark. Can you send me a link? I can't find one - there is a right hand door but I can't see a left hand one. There are two of the all glass later model doors on ebay but I'm still waiting to hear if they will fit or not. EDITED - Ah, they are just "door glass" , not "Glass door". Darn.
