I went across to the dealer this morning to let them see two of my wheels where the lacquer is lifting around the centre cap (they already replaced all 4 wheels after the car was about a year old and it is now approaching 3 years old). Whilst there I returned the technicians torch which I found stuck up in my rear suspension and also mentioned that the low coolant light had come on at the weekend and when I opened the bonnet I found the cap on the top of the expansion tank was only on by a quarter turn and there was coolant lying on the chassis rails and down the side of the tank.
The service manager came to see me and asked me to show him what I had found - he took all the details, examined the torch and the serial number which tells him which mechanic and examined their other records to find out who did the coolant. He then took the car away to check everything else. He was extremely apologetic and said he would normally offer me a free service but I already have the service pack, so he has promised he will find a way to recompense me. He also topped up the coolant and ordered two new wheels.
He was obviously seething about the issues because it showed their systems hadn't been adhered to and potentially there could be a safety issue.
I know it shouldn't have happened in the first place and it might have been a wheel or brake pipe they didn't tighten but at least they have handled it correctly which is a lot more than I can say for the muppets at my side of the city who I used to use until they buckled one of my wheels and denied it.
