I don't know if this is going to work so well as a picture rather than the real thing but here goes, what colour would you say this mug was?

Alex is of the most sound judgement, it is quite clearly blue. A lot of people, including my better half, insist it's brown.

(rofl)I would have have said dark slate grey (so a little blueish)
We have a similar debate in our house with some pasta bowls that are either Brown or Purple depending on which one of us is asking for them.......

BLUE? ?? In what way shape or form is that BLUE? Have you got some kind of filter on your glasses?

It is quite clearly blue. When That Dress hit the headlines there were lots of explanations about why people see these things in different ways. I think in this case those who see it blue are normal and those who see it any other other colour are just wrong.

I would say dark slate grey. Have you been asked about this and seen the mugs in question? I think they're called Denby Blue mugs, by the way.

Alex is of the most sound judgement, it is quite clearly blue. A lot of people, including my better half, insist it's brown. From the photo, I'd have gone with a very dark purple. And brown is perfectly understandable.
But not blue, apart from perhaps a touch on the handle. I could see how it could look blue in another light though.
Is that a form of what is called "slip-ware"?
And there's not much wrong with my eyes - had an eye-test recently and the optician pronounced me to have near-as-dammit perfect vision, and I can spot pretty tiny variations in shade that will then bug the crap out of me if they on something that is meant to be a uniform colour. But that doesn't stop my wife, who is as blind as a bat without her glasses or contacts (I think her prescription is 5 or something), arguing with me over the colour of things. Usually as to whether something is blue or green.

It's a charcoal colour with flecks of purple and silver in it.
Anyone who thinks it is blue should be immersed in water, and only if they drown, were they not a witch!

My mother used to have some Hornsea pottery. She swore it was blue. I swore it was brown. She got quite annoyed.....
