I agree that the Civic appears to be a proper piece of kit. If I didn't already have what I have, I would be very keen indeed to buy. But I don't think it would replace any of my current trio and I cannot justifiably add a fourth car when I don't really need three.
It is a real shame that there are so few options if you want a new, relatively affordable drivers' car with an internal combustion engine and a manual gearbox. The Hyundai i20N, i30N and Mazda MX-5 are perhaps the only remaining options (assuming that you cannot actually order a GR86 or GR Yaris any more) and then you get into Civic Type R territory en route to the Boxster, Cayman and M2...
