Didn't that have everything?
Good old halo saves a few more driver this weekend. I eventually have to concede that I have been proved wrong on a number of occasions now and its a welcome addition.
Felt for George Russell but seemed a bit daft that he jumped out of his car with all the other assistance on hand. Not sure he'd have got the car back to the pits anyway without taking the floor of his car off and the suspension must have been ruined anyway.
Still not sure what happened to Verstappen but his demise led to a brilliant GP so frankly who cares. My driver of the day has to be LeClerc, how the hell was he faster then Sainz with the damage he had. His driving in the last 10 laps was absolutely heroic. Controversially I'd say Hamilton was very cautious through Copse and didn't want a repeat of last year. Shows you can race if you find the apex.
What do you say about Ferrari. Should have been an easy 1 and 2 for the team. If Sky television can call out the strategy before Ferrari then you know there is a problem, there was no reason for LeClerc not to stop and double stack with Sainz. You can see why so many drivers leave the "best" team in the world.

Well I can’t disagree with any of that. I also thought Charles’ drive was more impressive than Checo’s as Charles was fucked over by the Safety Car and Checo benefitted from it. As to the overall Ferrari situation, another race where I make a joke about their organisational skills but it’s beyond a joke now. I’ve had a couple of interesting conversations on Twitter with tifosi that think the Scuderia should be 3/4 of the way to the title and pointed out that their slapstick actions are why we love them.
The other question is whether Hamilton would have caught the two red cars without the safety car sticking him in a race with a much better Red Bull. I’d hope that he would have and was happy to see him give that mammoth crowd a podium. As to that F1 race crash….. wow! He’d have been properly dead only half a decade ago, probably with no helmet on his head atop a broken neck! The F2 crash was just as horrible but less dramatic-looking, and obviously the whole MotoGP world was “stoked” (some kind of Aussie parlance I understand) to see Jack Doohan take his first win in F2 in the sprint race.

I was really starting to think Lewis might reign in the Ferraris at one point. If he'd stayed on the mediums a little longer and switcher to softs and there had not been a safety car I think he'd have done it. Merc seem to be finding ways to claw back some of their performance deficit but they're still running the 3rd fastest car hence Perez was able to take second. The championship is off for this year but there's a good chance they might win a race or two in the second half of the season.
Ferrari are suffering from trying not to have a lead driver. As much as it was great to see Carlos get his first win there was ample opportunity for them to get a 1-2 even with the safety car had they pitted Charles. He was far enough up the road from Sainz to have new tyres and get out without holding him up. I still think Max will be a double world champion come November but its this way of thinking that will stop Ferrari nicking the constructors title off of RB.
The crash was truly scary and I'm glad Zhou was OK. One good thing was that it stopped the eco protesters being hit by a field of F1 cars which would have been rather a mess. Good on Russrll for getting out to go help. He'd lost a tyre from one of his rear wheels so I don't see that he would have been able to get the car going out of the gravel.

Can't quite believe the eco dudes would have sat there as 20 cars came at them at 200mph. Fair paly if they did they're braver then me. Lewis Hamilton really is daft with his comments "bigging them up". Personally I only think they're worthy of a media blackout.
