I don't remember the detail from EVO but judging by this months Jethro column they were a tad underwhelmed, by the V6 at least.
Having said that I suspect for many of us the extra cylinders of the V6 and the associated nicer sound will be perfectly fine compared to the 4 pot and its dual clutch box.

I think there are a few too many cars judged in these magazine tests on their ability to deal with the extremes of handling and balance when 95% of the cars bought will never be driven to those extremes. It is still important that these things are mentioned for the small number who will track the cars but it shouldn't be the main criteria on which the car is judged.

Its the quality of the shift from the manual gearbox in the Lotus which would be my main concern. The Caymans is absolute rifle bolt by comparison.

If you're like 90% of others in a similar position the moment you have the cash you'll be off to your local Porsche centre for a Cayman instead. I really hope I'm wrong though because as good as the Cayman is, the Emira deserves to nick a few of its sales.

I think the decision between these two cracking cars will be mostly down to your own personal preferences in very specific areas. Objectively they are very closely matched. Subjectively you may prioritise steering feel above handling, looks above ergonomics (etc) - in which case you might choose the Emira over the Cayman. The Porsche is very good in pretty much every area and it's a really, really nice car. The Lotus, I suspect, is more of a mixed bag, which may captivate you and/or irritate you. It's great to have the choice. I'm keeping what I have
