After ten years of gentle bumbling around the local lanes, the Standard has gone off to pastures new. On the spur of the moment I advertised it last Friday, not expecting a huge response and within a few days a deal was agreed. The car was collected this morning, by transporter, and is on its way to Kings Lynn. It will be useful having some extra space in the garage but, then again, space is made to be filled...

Is it really 10 years you've had the Standard? I'm sure it will enjoy it's new home as much as you will contemplating what to fill the space with! How's the Alvis going?

Having fixed the leaking petrol tap the Alvis is going very well now. I took it for a 30 mile blast around the lanes this afternoon, grinning like a loon all the way.
No plans on a Standard replacement yet. Might be nothing, might be a cheap roadster, such as an MX5 or MGF, or something more expensive, such as an MGB or even a Morgan.

The end of an enjoyable chapter in your ownership. I'm sure its new owner will form their own happy memories with the car. Enjoy your decisions, James.

How disappointing that the new owner didn't drive it back to King's Lynn.

How disappointing that the new owner didn't drive it back to King's Lynn. He would still be driving now... Although the lack of hills over there makes the terrain ideally suited to the car's 26 bhp.
