Laughed out loud this morning.
i dropped W2.1 at the tube station this morning and as I left the one way system and joined the 30mph dual carriageway I noted lots of blue lights two cars behind me. I prepared to pull over and could see the vehicle behind also looking to make space. Thing is every time the vehicle behind pulled over to make space the blue lighted unmarked car stayed behind it. This happened about three times. We are all at about 20mph now, maybe even 15. I am now incredulous that the vehicle behind me hasn’t worked out that it’s them the policeman would like a chat with. We must’ve gone over half a mile at brisk cycling pace before it finally pulled over. Very amusing.

That is amusing!
Made me think about a situation a couple of weeks ago on the M5. I could see an Ambulance slowly catching, but there was a long line of middle lane hoggers in front nose to tail so I spotted into a big gap on my left. The guy clearly wasn’t paying attention as when he woke up he got very angry, waving / gesticulating/ shouting and then threw his car out into the 3rd lane to pull alongside and shout at me some more. I was trying to let him know to look behind his car…. He eventually realised he had slowed an ambulance down and it was sitting on his rear bumper. I let him in of course, then he didn’t make eye contact as I went back passed!

^ I'm only a few hundred yards away from our nearest main hospital. The main access is off a roundabout on the main road; quite often due to ambulance shortages not only do ambulances arrive on blues and twos but they leave on them too, on their way to their next call.
Last Sunday morning as I walked past, an ambulance was leaving on blues and twos; a car passing on the main road failed to notice this, albeit at the time the ambulance wasn't right on the roundabout on its way out, but even so...... Driver failed to see ambulance as it loomed in his/her rearview mirror so a blast of the siren was applied. it still took the driver several seconds to look round, realise where the noise was coming from, and slow down/pull over. There really are some terribly unobservant drivers around

When we lived closer to StGeorges Hospital we had lots of sirens, to the extent you Just block them out. On one maternal visit my mother observed “You have a lot of crime round here!” automatically associating sirens with crime, not healthcare.

I think I was involved in one of the slowest police chases when I was about 19 and driving home from the pub with some mates. A police car passed us and then U turned to follow, lighting up his blue lights. Convinced he wasn't after me I turned into a side street but he followed. Still convinced he wasn't after me I then turned down a back alley and then began a protracted affair of me slowly weaving in and out of the discarded bins and rubbish, with a police car flashing his lights behind me. After another 400 yards I decided he probably was after me and stopped.
