I was expecting it, but even so....I think it's worse than I thought it would be, especially the rear. What a change in 5 years for the 7 series.....

Wow! Nasty
For some reason the back end looks Peugeotesque to me. Absolutely no idea why except Peugeot would make a much nicer job of it.

Yes, saw a thread on this via TopGear on Facebook. I’m not a fan of the driver facing screen not being in a binnacle but otherwise I’m guessing the interior is a nice place to be. The front end is ghastly with that vent detail under the lights that are too slim (in what I suppose was some attempt at elegance that turned out to look like Benny Hill’s impression of the large Asian customer base) and the rear has attempted to be Alfa-164-ish but ended up looking like a badly traced version of the rear of some old Bristol that sold 20 cars in its entire lifetime.
I like the LCI G31, and I liked the F11 when launched. As I avoided the E60/61 at all costs I’m already dreading what I might be speccing in three years time!

I doubt you'll still be in a BMW, unless you buy the eco-wagon at the end of the term.

Not easy to spot with all the other mess going on, but what’s with the badges…..! The last couple of launches show that BMW have ‘upgraded’ the engines as well, with the old 50i now being a 60i etc.

Just what exactly is a chap (or chapess) supposed to buy now ? With a few exceptions, the cars from ze Germans are universally bloody awful and Jag don’t do proper saloons any more..

That angle, could be anything tbh. Not exactly stellar times for design, even more so than before.

I am really going off cars I do know what you mean. As for this new 7, if it had a different front grille and different light treatment fore and aft, then it would be ok (rather like the last Jaguar XJ) - the core shape isn't at all bad and I like those door-handles. As it stands though, yes it's horrible.

The 7 series has been an ever increasing munter since they killed off the E38.

It’s depressing but not surprising how the new 7 and the revised X7 are liked by many on American forums. A definite clue as to where such cars find homes. The big saloon market is so small in Europe, BMW probably don’t care if the new 7 doesn’t sell particularly well here.
BMW can make as many horrendous munters as they want, as long as cars like the 2 Coupe, 3-Series, M2, M3 etc are still BMW’s. It’s been interesting lately how resistant BMW is to dropping the ICE. I’m not sure how cars will be differentiated in the future. Even the modest EV has rapid acceleration. Without a straight-six, V8, flat-six or whatever – the motivation to buy a 911, M5 etc will surely be challenging for manufacturers.

Just watched the Autogefühl walk through. The rear is not so grim on video and to be fair neither is the front. He does point out that the Merc competitor (EQS) is a proper munter at the front. To Sav’s point: yep, don’t expect to see rows of these in the Embankment traffic jam so I won’t need to be offended. The big problem for me is the lack of driver binnacle.
Engine-wise it’ll be EV, PHEV Petrol or Diesel with likely no pure petrol in Europe. I guess the pure petrol engines remain for Southern States of the US (where electric cars are the preserve of them poncey democrats) and other markets where petrol will be king (Nigeria, Venezuela, Brasil etc) for the well off.
It’s not so bad but definitely not European targeted.

The back would be OK if you covered up the bits either side of the number plate. I too see the Peugeot 508 / Alfa 164 vibe there. The side profile is inoffensive. But the front? It's just a complete mess of shapes, lines, hollowed out bits and awfulness. It's almost like "wow these new thin headlights are really cool. But WTF do we do with all the space we've freed up by using them?."

The eyebrow lights are the DRLs. The Autogefühl one even had Swarovski crystals in them…. 🤐 Then the hole under them has the actual led voodoo lights in them.
