Utterly vomitorious.
The XB7 in the picture is just revolting.

Is BMW’s head of design actually a sleeper agent planted by Daimler Benz or VAG? Or has the design department got a bet on as to how ugly they can make a car before nobody buys it?

Isn't he the guy that effectively said in a recent interview that people who don't like the designs are idiots (not his exact words but the gist is the same)? I had the misfortune to look at an iX4 in a BMW showroom yesterday. Even in black the best I could call it is challenging.

I had the misfortune to look at an iX4 in a BMW showroom yesterday. Even in black the best I could call it is challenging. Black is the only option for most new BMW as it disguises the grille and awful detailing. One of the reasons why I don’t like black cars, but I’d have to break the rule if forced into most of the BMW range.

There's no good angle on that honestly, but in that particular M trim with the black grille it looks especially bad.

Fortunately we will see very few X7s in the UK or Europe.

BMW shifted 48,000 in its 1st year and 23,000 in the US alone in 2021.
Is that 48k units in spite of the looks or because of them ?
With the exception of the 5 series, I think all BMW models are ungainly, unbalanced and poorly detailed, but people appear to like the latest styling (the new M240i is pretty, apparently)

Jeez, that looks bloody awful.
It has absolutely no redeeming design features anywhere.

It was the same primer grey as the one tested in EVO this month. I've got to be honest that I didn't notice the squared off ends to the wheelarch extensions but they're not a deal breaker. One thing that absolutely is though is the instruments, they're a complete mess. The speed and revs are at opposite ends of the binnacle due to the shape and opposite rotation of the 2 dials and in between is filled with nav and all sorts of other stuff.

I don't think it's too bad. No looker for sure, but given the constraints of designing a full size seven seat SUV it doesn't offend me.

These visual carbuncles are designed now for for China (where vulgar bling sells well) and the US (where it does too to enough people).
