So Seb misses the Saudi race this year, having missed the previous Middle Eastern round in Bahrain. Given his outspoken and very visible views of the lack of freedoms and rights in these places, I’m betting F1 are breathing a huge sigh of relief he’s not there.
If he’s not there because of covid, of course. Nothing like a conspiracy theory to start a race weekend.

He's probably glad to not be there, the car is a dog.
As an aside, I was listening to a podcast the other day, someone put the point across that it is thought that part of Aston's problems is a certain Mr. Stroll, he insists on being involved directly with everything, pushing his ideas etc, not just letting the experts that he has employed, get on with it.

He certainly strikes me as old school and not a graduate of the carrot school of management. He's obviously a hugely driven bloke that probably isn't as sympathetic to those around him that don't think like him. I wouldn't want to be Martin Whitmarsh but of course he worked with Big Ron for a number of years. Having said that Stroll has worked in creative industries all his life so must know how to get the best of people. I mean F1 must be a doddle compared to dealing with all the oddballs of the fashion game.

Seb turned up to testing looking like he'd spent the entire off season smoking his way around India in a Peace convoy. He's certainly chilled since he left Ferrari and now maybe the politics of F1 are to apposed to his way of life.

Either way we see more of the driving talent than tantrums so a good thing in my book.

Jeddah is an unacceptable circuit in my view. How it got signed off, I don’t know. A certain race director went to the circuit numerous times when it was being built. Didn’t it become clear how unsuitable the layout was going to be? I worry about marshals being on track, drivers crashing and ending up disabled in the middle of the track, and cars on slow laps in qualifying. There is such limited reaction time with all the blind kinks, the changes to Jeddah have made little to no difference. Aston is a strange one. Do they really need F1? The disastrous decision to list the company on the stock exchange is still plaguing the company. Dr Palmer did some good; the DBX, the partnership with Mercedes – but the stock-exchange is the wrong place for a niche maker like Aston. If Ferrari performs badly in F1, Ferrari is Ferrari at the end of the day. People didn’t stop buying F355’s in 1994 when Ferrari were doing badly in F1. Aston hasn’t got that same luxury. Their brand isn’t anywhere near as immune to failures in motor racing.

I reckon they would do better at Le Mans and the series myself, being 'sports car' type oriented but then the whole thing is a showcase for Stroll junior. What will happen when he leaves cannot even guess.

I'm sure I read somewhere not too long ago, maybe last year, that Lance was never massively interested in motorsport, always preferring ice hockey, it's all been pushed by his dad's interest in it.
