Got my new work phone and am porting my number across to it. New network- Vodafone New phone- iPhone 13
Impressions so far, the 13 is very similar to the 11 I’ve been using. Different processor but same memory and more surprisingly, exactly the same cameras. I did comparison photos of both and the images were the same. Now I know the 13 is adequate and there are better versions with more lenses and stuff but I can’t help wonder if the manufacturers are starting to hit the limit of what they can do with current technology? I am aware that there’s better battery life and faster connection speeds and stuff, but that’s 3 generations of the same phone with the same results from the camera. And the marketing that they turned it at 45 degrees to facilitate a new whatever is a load of crap. It’s just to make it look different.
Anyhoo, I’m not complaining about a new phone and service, more of an observation.
I’m getting a Samsung something for other in a few weeks because we need phones that can be software locked so the cameras don’t work due to ip restrictions. Will be interesting to compare the two then.

Each iPhone I have had hasn’t given me anything other than the feeling of “it’s the same as the old one.” The GUI is always the same, the apps I use are the same and I tend to select the same size. I currently have a 7 and it needs to go soon because it runs really hot because a lot of the app upgrades are making the processor run at 99% really often. I’ll get a 13 mini and it will feel the same as the 7. All that said I like familiarity hence I’m on my 4th BMW 5 series.

I ditched Apple a few years ago with Huawei Mate 20Pro.the camera was superb, and once I got used to the interface and the fact that I can have it exactly as I want it, rather than how Apple tell me I should have it, I wouldnt go back to Apple from Android.
Currently running a Samsung S21 Ultra which has the best camera of any phone I've ever had.

I think this is the 5th iPhone I’ve had. I still use my first gen SE for my us number (need to keep it for bank account access) and it works perfectly well. The 11 will take over that role next. As for cars, I’m on my third black car in a row and my 5th Ford, not including the wife’s cars (she’s on her 4th Ford).

Interesting. I have a boggo 11 which I got in Dec ‘19 (upgraded from a 7) and my wife has a 12 Pro (upgraded from an 8). The 12 Pro, which has the three camera lenses rather than the two on mine, takes better photos than mine, especially in low light. But the battery life is worse.
We only really upgrade when the battery life/support starts to waver. I’m also in no hurry to change my 11 because I infinitely prefer its slimmer more rounded shape to the squared-off 12/13. I never cared for the 4/5/SE design and thought the 6-11 shape much nicer to hold.

My work phone in my last job was a 12 Pro Max and the battery life was very good in it, while the 3 cameras were better. My 11 is running at 77% battery capacity which is still good enough for regular use.

Looking for a new phone still but my need for camera's etc could be written on the back of a stamp, leaving room for an encyclopaedia. Thos I have checked out are in the end, limited to networks rather than open to anything I choose.
Perhaps that there flimflam or whatever it is would work.
Simple phones for simple use.
I can see the point in the new gadget laden items but not for me, old git anonymous.

I have a personal Samsung Galaxy S9 and a work iPhone. I much prefer the Android OS as the Apple iOS seems deliberately obstructive at times. I do like my iPad though.

I haven't had an android for donkeys' years but really didn't like them at the time. It was an HTC so will probably tell you it was a while ago. Having switched over to an Iphone 5 form the HTC it did wonder why I hadnt done it years before. Everything just worked and as I have the technical knowhow of an gnat thats what I need.
I've upgraded to the all singing all dancing Iphone 13 Pro Max from an iphone 8 plus last year. It might look very similar but the camera is light years ahead. Its got image stabilising in the video format which means you can run and take video without it bouncing. I took a video on the beach the other day whilst running alongside my son and the quality was epic.

My regular phone is an iPhone SE, which is essentially a newer iPhone 8 (I can't really tell the difference TBH), and I like it mainly because it still uses the fingerprint scanner instead of face recognition to unlock which I dislike.
I also have a Samsung Note 10 which I use solely to take photos, because the camera quality is a million times better than my iPhone. It's at least good enough for work.

My phone is an iPhone X which I've had just over 3 years now and my work phone is an XS which I got not long after. I tried Android a few years ago as that was the standard issue, but didn't like it at all and was glad to get my work phone changed. I used to upgrade every 2 years at least, but it doesn't feel like the last couple of models have moved things on all that much, the battery life and camera are both pretty good, so I'm waiting for September and the next iPhone launch.

.... I never cared for the 4/5/SE design and thought the 6-11 shape much nicer to hold. I found the same when my 6s finally died last year. So upgraded to the then new SE, which as already said is really just a slightly better iPhone 8.

I’ve got an 11 which I got in about September 2019. It’s still really quick and has a great camera so I haven’t bothered upgrading . Like Martin I might this year if the improvement is decent as mine is a bit bashed up now
