Had a half-hour trip from Sharjah back to Dubai on Tuesday evening wedged into the back of a client's new-shape Bentley Continental coupe. One of those left-field experiences that life occasionally chucks at you.
Difficult to give much meaningful commentary, but:
- good-looking car, even in white - plenty of performance - a good V8 rumble when prodded but not perhaps quite as magnificent-sounding as you might think - at 5ft10, I had (just about) enough leg room in the back, sat behind a similarly sized front passenger - ride is excellent but did thump loudly over things like rumble strips - essentially you couldn't really feel them but you could definitely hear them - interior is absolutely gorgeous and feels beautifully made - this one was a rich dark tan colour with two-tone walnut/piano black woodwork.

Never been in one on the move, but sat in one. As you say, the interior is fabulous. It's my lottery win daily driver ( a conti GT convertible to be precise) .

I like them a lot and agree the interior is fantastic. The owner of the business who used to be my main customer has a coupe and convertible and recently swapped his wife’s FFRR for a facelift Bentayga.
It would be a perfect daily for me, other than it wouldn’t be appropriate for work. Even with my car, I end up choosing to use the Golf a lot of the time.

From my somewhat removed position, given I'll not be buying either, the running costs would be frightening. I believe you will end up with the Macan as like as not and will enjoy it immensely. The other exotics might be nice but would they be that much nicer to justify the cost?

Stunning cars ,I love them and in those moments I have thought of getting something a bit more relaxed than the gt3 ,it tops my list . I think I would feel quite self conscious driving one though which puts me off.

By the time I could afford one of these it'd have to be the Bentley Incontinental.

If I’m not willing to park it in Tesco I’d be worried that it would hardly ever get used.

Aldi is an amazing place. I only popped in the other day for a sandwich and I came out with a potting bench. I neither pot plants, or require a bench, but at £35 it was too good to turn down.

Even though I am only in for milk I find myself strangely attracted to the aisles down the middle and I have a lifelong supply of WD40 as a consequence.

I was lucky enough to be allowed to drive a former colleagues Mk 1 W12 Continental GT some years ago. It was the perfect colour combo - metallic deep green with tan leather. It felt so bloody solid and I had the sensation that it did not accelerate so much as just very rapidly and effortlessly gather large amounts of momentum.
I think Conti GTs are bought by two types of people. Chavs with too much money. And gentlemen with a certain "edge". Your spec dictates which camp you fall into. I think the gentleman express would be lost in Tesco / Aldi / even Waitrose car park as all the white Mercs, Audis and SUVs with privacy glass and black wheels would "outshine" it. The chav spec one on the other hand....

I drove an early original W12 Continental when my dad had a demo car brought out for him to try. The way such a heavy lump hustled down a twisty B-road defied the laws of physics.
By all accounts, the running and repair costs are deeper than than deepest money pit you could imagine, so well-used early examples are cheap to buy for a reason.

I can imagine the Bentleys city braking system is set to automatically apply itself if you try to drive into an Aldi car park.
