Last night was very .. .. .. taxing, to say the least! Had to stay on at work (in a building that ostensibly shuts at 5pm), then go up to the hospital (Stobhill, for those who know the area) and on home thereafter. Except .. .. while looking out for traffic lights, a multitude of other, somewhat erratically driven cars, amber-gamblers and a moron on an electric bike, I didn't see the massive pothole in time to miss it and ended up with a burst tyre!
Annoyingly, the Optimist doesn't come with anything other than a can of gunk, which I felt would likely be pretty useless in this case and thus didn't use it, so on to Green Flag it was. A potential 5-hour wait was the cry! I honestly could have wept at that point, new puppy syndrome (i.e. 5 hours sleep at best per night) plus a fraught 11-hour shift contributing to rather strong emotions! Thankfully the wait was "only" two and a half hours, and I considered myself quite fortunate at that. Home by 11pm, which was nowhere near as bad as I feared.
Unfortunately, the demon puppy from Hell decided that the new, smaller rate I had sourced for her didn't meet her standard for accommodation and made her displeasure known in no uncertain terms! That led to a trip out to the garage to fetch in the other, bigger crate, which madam was quite satisfied with, thank you very much! Little bitch! Finally got to bed about midnight I think.
On to this morning. Local Kwik-Fit only had budget tyres in stock of my size, so ArrowSpeed's finest is now adorning the OSF. No jack, of course, so had to half-demolish the garage to reach the trolley jack, which wouldn't fit under the car! Thankfully, Herself's i20 jack fitted and was strong enough to lift the car enough to get the big jack underneath, and wheel removed (once I managed to fnd the locknut, placed in the centre console for safe keeping and promptly forgotten about - panic mode ensued for a time until I remembered! Wheel up to K-F, swapped over (sidewall had split on the high-quality [not] Westlake tyre) and now back on the car; no issues with the trolley jack once there was an inflated tyre fitted!
Drove in via the scene of the pothole to get some photos, with a view to a claim against the clowncil/road maintenance organisation - bastards have only been out and filled it in haven't they! Raging is not the word; I'm still livid now, some 3 hours later!!
Hopefully I haven't sent you all to slepe reading this; it does feel quite cathartic writing it all down though.
