It looks a bit drafty outside today. I have roped over one of the sheds which has a dodgy roof and loose things moved to shelter. One section of fence is looking like it might let go at any moment and I can see two birds hanging onto a violently swaying branch with a white-knuckled grip. Glad I'm not in the south west. Even worse there by all accounts.

A gentle breeze in Glasgow. We had lots of snow earlier which lay for a while before melting, so it looks like we are getting an easy time today. However one client coming from about 30 miles south of here has cancelled because she is snowed in, so maybe we are just lucky.

Not a lot going on here, for a change. A bit of snow this morning which has all but melted.

I spent yesterday driving the work's van to Hutton in Essex, via Coventry on the way home. It was like wrestling a particularly grumpy bear, if the bear was covered in baby oil, on a polished marble floor, hadn't eaten for 3 days and could see but couldn't reach a female bear in the distance. The journey home was made worse by the fact I was carrying about £70ks worth of engine and bodywork in the back.

Glad to be out of the country and missing it, but it's cold and foggy here in Italy so not much to write home about.

The in-laws have just had a big tree come down, narrowly missing their garage.

It is a bit breezy. We've had a tree come down on a vehicle in Essex and have had to cancel deliveries into South Wales.
No issues at home (yet), at least none that I've been made aware of. It was quite windy driving back home down the M6 last night, but must have been a tailwind as the truck did 36mpg....so not all bad.

It’s windy here and I saw a few trees and bits of tree when I collected the kids from gymnastics.

From a tip in the DT online. This is trending globally - live footage of planes landing at Heathrow. so far here we've lost the bird feeding table - broken off.

And I see from the live grid that wind is producing 27% of power in the UK today. That's probably until all the bearings overheat and the turbines burst into flames

It’s the same here.
I did laugh at Gary Linekers tweet this morning:
“Terrible wind this morning…. It’s quite breezy outside too.“

We lost all power from around half 2 until just after 8pm and looking round the garden we've lost a couple of shrubs but otherwise it was pretty uneventful here, but we are quite sheltered. Friends who live nearer the coast haven't been so lucky.
I think the nations fence panel suppliers will be having a good weekend!

We're quite sheltered here and missed the worst of it. Nevertheless, our fence took a battering and is hanging by a thread, and I'm glad we dismantled the side netting on Mini Eff's trampoline.
There was a lot of disruption in the area - major roads, including the A34, shut. More annoying for us was the school closure and a power cut from midday until 8.30pm. With no phone signal either I had to down tools, which has meant working over the weekend.

We had no phone signal too so even though my laptop had charge there wasn't anything I could do as all my work required accessing our internal systems.

My drive to work on Friday morning was OK although there was a lot of wooden debris on the roads. We didn't really feel or hear anything in the building which is surprising, seeing as it is a converted barn... but we could see the trees moving wildly outside. A large branch fell off a tree in the car park, into the only space that wasn't occupied.
TA short walk at lunchtime between showers revealed a few trees down in the lane outside the premises, and plenty of assorted debris on the roads nearby. I couldn't return home the way I wanted, due to at least one road closure (the road had been open earlier ) so not sure if it was an accident or trees that had fallen over that caused this, but the alternative route was OK. Traffic levels were much lighten than usual both going to work and returning home.
Once home, I found that the low fence (3ft high, maybe?) between us and one neighbour is down (their responsibility, and it's fallen into their garden) but the fence the other side, and the one at the end of the garden (6ft/2m) are intact. The house and shed appear to have survived without any damage; I consider myself fortunate.

It’s been very windy here, I am a bit concerned about the caravan in the garden. Especially as we didn’t have one yesterday.

I for one am relieved I got my fence professionally replaced 3 weeks ago, the current one was a mess as a result of Storm Dennis in Feb 2020, at the time I asked for quotes and was told that no one could come out for 2-3 months to just quote as they were so busy as a result of the wind and then from that point a 2-3 month lead time, then Covid hit and it went on the back burner with me constantly just patching it up.
Had it replaced recently, I'm pretty sure that what was left would have been decimated by the recent storm and then of course with all the other fences down in the area I would be looking at a similar scenario to early 2020, except the fence definitely wouldn't have been salvageable.
