I've found a daily, seen on Ebay. Collected Thursday evening, 65 miles from home, near Peterborough.
2009 59 plate Mondeo 2.0TDCi 140 estate. Manual, grey, darkened rear windows. Already has a towbar but I need to swap the electrics to 13 pin. 12 months MOT - passed the day before purchase, 118k miles and a "well used" ambience! It has had recent front discs and pads and new rear pads. It's a big thing. I can't believe how roomy it is, it probably has a bigger boot than a V70. Climate, cruise, nice trim. 52.7mpg on the cruise back home on Thursday night. It rides well I that usual Ford way and handles tidily, despite the tyres, which are an odd mix of Chinese all seasons on the front, one Continental summer and one Goodyear summer on the back. These WILL be changed.
After a really good clean inside it's come up OK and outside it is a "10 foot" car. It looks pretty decent from 10 feet away.
£2300. Hopefully it doesn't leak anything on the new driveway!
I will stick a couple of pics here when I get chance.

Mondeos are enormous and very capable. Blarno can swap notes with you.

Can't beat a Mondeo. Possibly the best all round car on the planet.

Also, regarding the 13 pin setup, can you not just buy the adapter plug or does it only work for 13-7?

Also, regarding the 13 pin setup, can you not just buy the adapter plug or does it only work for 13-7? I probably could. But a proper wiring interface would be better than a bypass set up, which it currently has. That lets the car know it's towing a trailer, thus adapting the stability systems. Not necessary for a small trailer but probably better with a caravan.

Well done - and get those tyres bought for it if you've got any budget cash left over!

The whole 7 / 13 pin thing is a right pain, as I discovered when I was lent a Shogun that had 13 pin electrics and didn't have an adapter to fit our 7 pin trailer. I thought that 13 pin just combined the old dual sockets that caravans had into one unit? Won't the fact that something is drawing power tell the car that it is towing?

Mondeo update: Now fitted with 4 matching Hankook Kinergy 4S2 all season tyres. Rides better, feels much better. I've done and oil and filter change with engine flush and it runs that bit sweeter. I've shifted loads of stuff to the tip in it. With the seats down its huge in the back. I've not washed it yet, which feels all kinds of wrong but I just haven't had time. It started running roughly at low speeds around town so I've blanked the EGR off until the spring when it will be easier to clean the EGR and intake manifold. It runs fine now.
I've also got rid of the utterly dismal Chinese Android based clone of a clone of a clone stereo. Most of the feature didn't work, it wouldn't pair with my phone and it would only find 2 radio stations and only FM, no DAB. Plus the sound quality was poor. For 45 quid from Ebay I picked up what was the standard spec Sony 6 disc DAB unit, with code. Straight swap. DAB, really quite pleasing sound quality and now have Bluetooth. Plus the full range of screens in the Convers+ display. And voice control. God knows why anyone would have taken that out, really. It's amazing how much that change makes the car feel that bit nicer.

I don’t know what anyone would replace the unit and have less integration, unless the original was but even then (as you’ve found) replacements aren’t expensive.
I assume you’re going to run the AS tyres all year round?
Had a quick look at reviews and seems like a decent tyre, the only negative was how long it’s expected to last. The CC might be more expensive, but iafter 3 winters and over 15k miles, they’re almost like new still.

The CC2s were fitted to the Benz yesterday. Wellying from standstill into a gap in a roundabout was not met with the fishtailing wheelspin which was the signature of the previous crappy Triangle rears. Looking good so far.

I would on the mondeo
And judging by the reviews , CC2s are definitely something you can leave on all year round

Yes the AS tyres are staying on. We have CC on Jane's Captur - CC+ on the front and CC2 on the rear. The older ones were rotated forwards. After being on for 3 years, the old front CCs had started to crack and we're an advisory on the MOT. The Kinergy 4S feel OK, I'm quite impressed with them.
