Hi, welcome on-board.
My first choice would always be a vintage Bentley Speed Six, although a 4.5 is plenty fast enough as well. The Vauxhall 30-98 is also well worth consideration, as is the Alvis 12/50. The Lagonda 2-litre is great to drive, as is any of the vintage/post vintage Riley range.
If you are looking for something more modern, consider a Morgan.

Any other requirements other than “3 or 4 metres of ‘car’”?
Kids? Dogs? Wipe clean seats? Luggage? City use? Guardian-reader friendly?
At the moment the suggestions from Roadrunner are ideal until we know more.
