They're everywhere! My neighbour has 2, a house a few doors down has one. Quite a few others dotted around, all with the same bodykit, roughly similar wheels and virtually identical decals. I can't leave the town without seeing at least 5!
Caddys are almost as bad, now that British Gas are binning off all their diesel vans for electric, and all the skate/bmx/mtb boys are buying them uop and slamming them on Porsche/Bentley/Audi rims.

Its all about a Decathlon blackout tent. It folds up into any car, even a 911 (ask Ed). Close 2nd for me if I had to would be a proper motorhome like this . www.ebay.co.uk/itm/203648285722?hash=item2f6a623c1a:g:Xw8AAOSw8p9hZY-NI wouldn't do caravanning or the VW route, mainly for the cost. I used to take my Caddy to VW van centre, and the cost of them VW camper vans was sickening.

We had 3 nights in a Yurt with a proper bed / sprung mattress, a wood burner and it's own kitchen/toilet/shower block when the kids were a smaller as I knew they would love it (they did), but didn't do it again! Despite loving caravan holidays across Europe as a kid, I wouldn't want one, but if I had to would choose one over any camper van.

We recently sold our campervan because while it's nice having the option the reality is that the mileage done for camping has been pretty minimal and after being away a few times we'd much prefer to stay in a hotel. That way you're unlikely to hear someone 100 yards away snoring and if you need the loo in the middle of the night (most campers don't have an onboard bog) you don't have to get dressed and walk a distance into somewhere that's inevitably brightly lit that wakes you up.
Having said that a camper with 220BHP has been quite amusing, not least when there's a ned in a Fiesta ST lookalike tailgating through a 30 limit.....
Recently some friends bought an early 2000s Brazilian built VW Type 2 and we've met up with them a couple of times, their only stipulation has been that it must be within 100 miles of Glasgow as the VW isn't exactly great for any sort of distance. God knows how long it took them to drive from Bristol to Glasgow when they bought it. However, I reckon it fits in perfectly with their self-image as they're early 60s and go to Glastonbury most years and the wife in particular is a bit hippyish.

Get yourself a decent air bed and your laughing . The blackout feature just makes it even better, it’s cool and dark when you wake up in the summer. Hopefully see you at Silverstone Classic next summer

Yes, you can stay in an awful lot of hotels for what a campervan costs.

Ooh fancy. Wonder what show the interior photos were taken at because if you look out of the window in the shot of the sink & hob there's a silver Rover SD1. EDIT: There's an E30 M3 in one of the shots as well.

No amortisation of the tent (£65?) and air bed (£20?), both of which would be disposed of after 3 nights!

and a "One life, live it" sticker on the back doors. I thought VW must fit those as standard - never quite get what they're saying - like you can't live a worthwhile life with any other vehicle? I've seen much nicer VW Bus concepts in the past.

They're everywhere! My neighbour has 2 Same here - we have a neighbour who has two new ones every six months - for the last six months though, due to a supply problem, he had to suffer the ignomy of one of them being a Transit. And you should see our town during the Ironman weekend - it's like one of those VW Fest things!

Not too shabby, for a milk float.

Saw a launch video last night. Externally it's pretty sharp. The interior is nothing special - 5 seats, none of the flexible railing system that was on the concept. The range is nothing special either - 77kwh battery and range of circa 250 miles. £50k starting price. Comments seemed very positive, but I didn't see much to get excited about.

£50k starting price is nothing for a VW scenewagon. We were browsing AT for a laugh at work a few weeks ago and there was a T6 Transporter on there, a Highline DSG, for £84k. It wasn't even new and wasn't even converted to a camper! Who pays £84k for a van?

There doesn't seem to be much improvement to battery life on the horizon. I was hoping by now that the 500 mile battery was on the cards at sensibleish money.

From reading the article in Autocar earlier, it is pretty much a van, with rear bench seats and some windows added. Hardly ground-breaking stuff. So the question is will people who currently drive an SUV / crossover change to this instead? The commercial version looks more useful.

Since making that comment only a few months ago, our road (of just 18 houses) has gone from the two T6's to a total of 8 vans (I added one of them of course).
