Not sure if this has been asked before. Naming cars. I've never named a car in my life. I may have called one or two a useless POS the odd time, but have never given one a name.
Interested in the reasons why or maybe just because.

Never named a car either.
My missus does if it has a number plate that lends itself to an easy name like HN08TBY would be Toby or CL55LCY would be Lucy but all my cars have never had such plates. Recent plates on my car have ended in ZBN, APV or GBX.
My old GT4 was yellow and ended in RJ65 UHU so could say it stuck like Glue.

I name cars sometimes. So the Gorilla (Alpina B5), Boris (500SEC), Colditz (190), Schreibmaschine (Alpina B10), Rocketship (S1000RR), Chester (E46 (first one)), Tron (G31)
No reason but try to select a name that reflects the car / bike.

I've named very few cars. Mrs PG sometimes names our cars to make up for it. My black XF was called Buffy as it had BFY as its plate letters. Her Black A3 with yellow seats was called The Bumble Bee and my Granada, The Motorised Sofa. And the current Jag is, of course, called The Jaaaaag.

Other than derogatory, spur of the moment names when things haven't gone entirely to plan, I don't think I've ever named any car or bike I've had.
Herself, on the other hand, has named every single car she's had since I've known her, and apparently had done so for many years prior to that - but only ones she's owned, never any of her lease cars.
ETA: My daughter has also named both the cars she's had; the MINI was Sylvia and the Corsa, Gloria. No idea where either of those names came from!

I've never named any of my cars but my friends named my E300-24v, the bungalow, due to its size. They all loved it as we towed a trailer and race car (often not mine) around the country for many years, delighting in its performance, comfort and space.

I have only named one car, no idea why it's not as if there was a link to a plate or anything. Bessy Bunter was a character in the Beano so that might be a link but not consciously.

I've pretty much had a name for most, if not all of my cars since I had the Legacy, which was known briefly as White Lightning and then Sue.
Escort GTi - Bonce, because the number plate ended BNC. Clio 172 Cup - Blue Frog. Obviously. Vectra V6 project - Graham, because I mistakenly named it after Graham Chapman and not Colin Chapman, as I was going for lightness.. Primera GT - Ed the Red, because it was red. Phoebe named it for me. Citroen AX project - Franc, again obvious. Peugeot 406 - Perry, again named by Phoebe after her favourite cartoon character at the time: Perry the Platypus. Mondeo - The Flying Postbox, because it was swift and red. This marked the beginning of my estate ownership and also the use of "The Flying...." as a car name. SAAB - The Flying Glacier Mint, because of its colour and similarity in shape to the aforementioned confectionery. 320d - The Flying Schnitzel, because German. 330d - The Flying Briefcase, because of it being a dark grey executive express.

I’ve never named my car. The closest one came was my first brand new company car which had the reg ending in MNE and my mum said it stood for ‘Martin’s Nice Estate’, but it was never a name.
Lindsay named her first 2 cars and the Swift Sport which she bought when we were together (Susie….), but that stopped when we bought the Boxster and didn’t start up again when we bought the Golf.

First car 1980 Fiesta was Betsy. No other car names although the S-Max had a licence plate that went something like BE08NO something so it became Beano like the comic.
Our Honda Odyssey had PYG as part of its licence plate so it was known as the pig.

Not really. My first car was known as Pop (last three letters on the numberplate). My father arbitrarily decided that my first Z1 was called "the Bolt" and I called the second one "Hercule" because it was originally registered in Belgium. The 135i coupe was christened Bruce by a friend of mine during a drive down to the Alps to go skiing when it was new - her husband had already decided the female voice on the sat nav was "Sheila" so she riffed on that. The M135i, on the other hand, I used to refer to as "Ugly Mug". None of the other 20 or so cars I've had has had any form of name beyond "the car", possibly distinguished by make or colour when I had more than one.
The person in my family who used to have a thing for naming cars is my father. When we were teenagers, he had three successive Range Rovers over about a decade and they were always called "Boris" by everyone. Then he had a classic Jag Mk2 3.8 which was called James (as in "Home James, and don't spare the horses!") and his wife had a black Golf GTI 16v which was known as "Baby Rocket" (it was an early 3dr Mk3 with a black leather interior, the right alloys and every possible option - I wanted it badly). The only surviving named car is his wife's 1965 Fiat 500, which they've now had for 30 years and which is known by all as Humphrey. Since then the various Audis and now Macan haven't had names, but Dad's daily driver has always (since before I was born) worn one of those silver bonnet mascots that you rarely ever see anymore and that's called Herbert. It's a flying pheasant.

I can't think of any car I've named although I think my missus called the TT "Herman".

I haven't named any of my cars either, although some of my friends seem to have come up with their own names for my cars over the years. Am I weird, or are they weird? Best not answer that

I don't generally name my cars. The Captur reg ends TNO so it's been named Tino by Jane. She named the caravan Dora as it's made by Xplore.
I sometimes refer to the Kuga as The Fridge because it's large, white and about as exciting as a domestic appliance.

Perhaps Stu's domestic appliances are actually quite exciting, Chris. Given his line of work, I wouldn't be entirely surprised if true

^ Could be that some of his domestic appliances have flashing lights (most likely not blue, though) and warning sirens........ (burnt the toast again)

Well, I've had two smoking Hotpoint washing machines in the last 4 weeks... Two? Oh dear .. .. .. Plus a Hoover that failed on first use. 4th washing machine in a month, a Samsung, bought 2nd hand, is (for now) running OK... for now!

Jesus. Exactly what kind of use are you subjecting these poor domestic appliances to? Evan's underpants. I think I should be employed to sit at the end of the production line (of anything) to pick out the faulty products. I seem to find them in the shops easily enough!
