How many miles have you driven in your own cars overall since you first got a car and what does that work out at per year?
Prompted by the realisation this morning that, by my reckoning, I've just ticked over a total of 300,000 miles (give or take) at the wheel of my own cars since getting my first car in September 1996. So that's 300k over 25 years, so an average of 12k miles per year, which IIRC makes me Joe Average in the UK.
That excludes hire cars and other people's cars, including those of parents and partners.

Only very roughly, as I can't remember, but I reckon I'm at about 350k over 27 years.

I got my first car when I was 17 and only did 4-5k a year until I got a company car and a job in sales when I was 23 and it jumped to 30k. So a bit of a guess, but it won't be that far out, I'm at around 760k which is 24.5k miles a year.
I do know what I've done in the last 12 years, 337k. That doesn't include hire cars, but does include business miles in the Boxster/Golf, although adding some private mileage in those cars must take it up to 345k ish / 29k miles a year.
In my own cars rather than company cars, I'm at 210k in the last 7 years despite lower mileage for the last 18 months, which is 30k a year.

Difficult to work out; probably 10k a year until I got my first company car at 23. I do remember the company car tax was halved if you did over 18k a year and I definitely benefited from that. The last 15 years it's been 25k a year at least. I'd estimate circa 700k.

I've never had a company car. None of the three law firms I've worked for has offered them.

29,698.4 miles covered since 1988. Approximately 900 miles a year as an average.

All figures in kilometres
The Mitsubishi Lancer I did I think about 80,000km in four and a half years. The Toyota Prius I did 26,000km in six months, mainly because I used it to do Uber on the side. The Suzuki SX4 so far I think has done almost 20,000km in slightly over two years of ownership. I've obviously used it a lot less now.
So added up, that's 126,000km over I think seven years of car ownership, which works out to 18,000km a year.

I mean, the average mileage for cars here is apparently 20,000km a year.
We are small but even a short 10 minute commute to work is already 10km. Circling round the island is about 200km or so. Our motorway network is pretty extensive for a small country.

Hmm, what an intriguing question! There have been a few occasions I've wondered exactly that; must say, I'm surprised at "only" 300K for you racing, given all the continental trips, working (and driving to/from) Russia, etc, you've done, not to mention SE England to St Andrews more than a few times over the years, I'd imagine.
Anyway, first car I bought was in late 1981, a Golf 'N' which cost me the princely sum of £50! I estimate, on a fairly accurate basis I think, around 395K miles in cars of mine, another 69 in lease cars, 56K+ on my bikes and probably a good 8-10K in other cars/vehicles. Total somewhere in the region of 520-530K miles in 40 years, or a bit over 13K p/a. Given that a quarter of that time I lived on the Isle of Man, and a nearly a year out when I had the cancer, that's not too shabby.

I reckon 725k miles over 34 years which works out at 21 and a bit k per year. All paid for by me, no company cars ever. I've not counted various trips in hired vans (e.g. 2 return journeys to Czechia) or borrowed/parents cars either. I'm sure I probably did at least 50k in my folks' cars

I have not counted the mileage in the moderns I have owned but that is only about another 50k miles so nothing compared to the range here.

Not all that much compared to some of you - but:
Got my first car in 1990, so we are talking about 31 years' worth of mileage. Estimating as follows
About 10k in my black Uno About 10k in my white Uno About 37k in my black AXGT About 49k in my blue Megane About 12k in my green Rover About 19k in my silver TT About 5k in my black Corsa About 20k in my silver M3 About 8k in my blue VX220 About 103k in my silver Cayman About 84k and counting in my blue M3 About 11k in my blue GT4 About 3k and counting in my blue GTS About 1k and counting my black Yaris
Which makes about 372,000 miles I think, so about 12k per year on average.
The average has dropped in the last 2 or 3 years and my annual mileage will continue to remain fairly low (perhaps around 7 or 8k) while I am living and working where I am.

I think the answer is that, asides from the three years in Moscow, I've lived in central London for the last 20 years and never regularly used a car to commute or for other work purposes, so those are all just SD&P miles (to use insurance jargon). There's no way the average Londoner does 12k miles p/a.

I can’t get close to answering this question. I do little miles in a private car but do double the number on a motorcycle and this has been skewed over the years by living close to London, further from London, a few years of being out of the UK every weekday……..
It’s not a high number though. Nothing like the 30k per annum stuff.

Where is the new car delivery/collection thread?! It's good (and interesting) to see that you are using the GTS a lot more than the GT4.

Between getting my first car and getting my first company car, I reckon I did about 8-10k a year (8 years). Say 70k miles. Then I continued working in London but travelled for work, so about 10-15k per year (3 years). Say 40k miles. Then commuted outside London and then up here in the Midlands, plus private use increased too once we moved to the country. I never did less than 25k a year, some years 35k. So I reckon that in 30 years that is at least 800k miles. Now I'm retired, about 8k a year. So I reckon 950k miles maybe.

I've been driving for well over 40 years and have no idea how far I've driven in that time. As well as my own cars, I've always had access to my parents' car until mum stopped driving and passed it on to my elder daughter, plus hire cars, hire vans, company pool cars etc etc. I'm another who has never had a company car

Haven't got the faintest clue! I can tell you I reckon I've done about 350k in total driving since 2002 but so much has been in company cars its difficult to really tell. I've also had a fair few hire cars and I couldn't remember how many miles I've done in them all.

I have added up everything I can remember and have done a sense check on it with my 25 years of a near 50 mile daily commute, high business miles in my early years, 13 or 14 years of long distance weekend travelling to and from racing events and all the other running around and I reckon I am near the 700k mile mark (I did c 115K in my Golf GTi, 95K in my Mercedes E300-24v and another 110K in my C230K)

I've been doing 20k a year since 2014, so there's 140k.
Between 2007 and 2014 I did about 6k a year, so there's another 42k.
I'd hazard a guess that between 1998 and 2007 I did 12k a year average, so there's another 108k.
286000 apparently.

I can't imagine I'm anything other than Mr Average. My annual mileage went up in 2020, contrary to most other people, though. 14k.

I'm guessing 600-700k+ - very hard to say! I've had a couple of company cars, the rest my own, and must have averaged at least 20k in the 30 years (!!!!) I have been driving. It's come right down in the last 3, but before that I was often doing high miles sales jobs, driving my partners car a fair bit as well, and in some years I must have driven 50k+ between my car, hers, and the race car.
