I went into Central London today ostensibly to visit the partnership offices. I really went to have an eye test at my optician, who is on the other side of Tottenham Court Road, and to have a beer with a partner. he didn’t make it as there had been an incident on his rail line so he stayed home - indicating how far we are from any additional reliance on the rail as discussed elsewhere. This was the (now back to 2-way) Tottenham Court Road at 1615hrs.

Yes, my cousin was in London a couple of weeks ago, he said it was like a scene from a movie where the population had been taken by aliens.

Odd so many are staying away from the office still. I’m in 3 days a week now. If I worked from home permanently I’d have lost the plot by now. I’m one of those people that needs the social interaction of the office.
Of course commuting into London is about as appealing as a rancid turd but it’s all great once your there.

I think they have all gone to Coventry. The traffic was ridiculous this afternoon when I left the office. Not helped by the tropical monsoon which fell as I joined the A46.

... or to Camberley. I ventured out earlier in the week to the town to the doctor's; traffic was worse than pre-pandemic now that the schools are back. Some of the issues were no doubt down to a succession of roadworks on the main A30 but even so......

Yes, my cousin was in London a couple of weeks ago, he said it was like a scene from a movie where the population had been taken by aliens. I don't see any of this. Everything I've been into town over the summer the place has been getting busier and busier, even the west end. The tube heading back to Victoria yesterday just and hour after Jeff's pic was packed. I'll walk it in future if it's going to be that busy!

I was really shocked when I walked out of Goodge Street tube onto TCR: me, the fruit stall and that was about it. Also plenty of shops gone or simply not bothering to open. StJames’ was busier when I was there in the morning but even so, this was like some apocalyptic scene from the mini series Chernobyl
