I mixed up this (non-kids) weekend by getting my long run out of the way on Saturday afternoon - which proved an error as I didn't bother to cycle the next day.... I did however hand wash and generally fettle all three cars, it had been some time. I'm now expecting the local wood pigeons to start regular bombing runs, but we'll see... I took them all out for a little local lap afterwards, making very sure that the brakes were in no danger of rusting up............
Plenty going on with the fleet - brake pads on the XFR this week, I booked the Boxster in for a service at a well reviewed local specialist and the earliest they could do was late September! And I finally booked chips away to respray the XFR rear bumper from where the beepies decided not to make me aware of a daftly positioned post in Newbury station car park. I hope to keep it for a few years yet and its role is mostly driveway jewellery nowadays so the two scrapes on the bumper can go....
The XFR moans incessantly about a low battery on startup when it hasn't done any decent journeys for a week. Our telematics isn't showing it as low compared to many similarly little-used vehicles on our work fleet, but - while mileage will pick up in the autumn - it may well be time for a new battery before winter.
Lastly, the new Bridgestone Potenza Sport rears on the XFR seem excellent, definitely the best tyres I have used on the Jaaags, a few times I've mentally prepped for some traction issues on wet roads and it's just gripped and gone. Impressive.
