Some birds are nesting in our car port and shitting incessantly on her roof, leaving some nice staining on the roof . What’s good for removing said stains ?

Autoglym do a fabric roof cleaning kit which works well. Renovo also do very good roof stuff.

I used the Autoglym twin pack when we had the Boxster and it was very good, both in terms of cleaning and protection. As Mark says, the Renovo range gets excellent reviews, but isn’t quite as easy to apply, so I tried Autoglym first and was happy with it.

First things first, you need to soak the bird droppings and hose them off before they bleach the top. We've had a few convertibles and I have tried many options. You need to get yourself a relatively soft brush (they say a horse hair one is best but I could never find one) and some convertible top cleaner. You can get soft top cleaner by AutoGlym or similar at Halfords if you need it in a hurry although I often just used car wash. You just need to gently clean the top with the brush and cleaner, working the brush in to the creases and folds without being too aggressive. If bird droppings are left on the top too long, they can bleach the colour out of the roof and you would need to use a restorer, maybe with colour, to bring it back to black - see here: www.renovointernational.com/ After that , it is up to you. I used to seal the roof with a nano coating which meant that the water beaded on top of the fabric and the roof never actually got wet but it only lasts a couple of months. I would probably get a thin plastic sheet to put over the car roof whenever you park it in the carport because no amount of product can combat, long term, the acid and bleach in bird droppings.

Thanks for the advice .
I have put some cardboard between the nest and the car which has prevented further shit hitting the car ,I just need to clean the damage done already.

... and as soon as the young 'uns have fled the nest, take (or knock) it down to prevent an easy re-use.

No idea on cleaning but net the eaves when they’re gone to make it less attractive for nesting.

Perhaps put something 'better nearby. You get to see the birds but stop the droppings.
