I don't read the likes of Autocar or What Car so I assume that's why I've never heard of it?+

I haven't purchased a car mag in at least 10 years, I get all my info from here, so I'm constantly surprised by what crops up. Only recently have I been seeing numerous blobby, soap bar shaped things with Mercedes badges on called EQC. I assume from the green stips on the number plates that they're electric things. They always seem to be black as well.

I read the Pistonheads and Autocar website, and buy Evo and Car from time to time, so am usually up to speed. But this one definitely had passed me by.
In metallic orange, it didn't actually look that terrible in the metal - better than the similarly shaped offerings from ze Germans, and Renault's "predator mandibles" headlights work better on the larger shape.

I've got a vague recollection about seeing something about it in Autocar or on their website. I presume it's basically a "coupe'd" Kadjar?

It is pretty much a Coupe' style Captur but a bit longer, it is due here in August, I've not seen one in the metal yet though.
Apparently it has been a big hit over in mainland Europe, Renault over here are hoping it will raise the brand as Renault have been really struggling in the past few years over here and the cars currently offered are very good.
Anyway we at dealership level are sceptical, as are some at Renault UK, currently we don't really see the point of it.
If you are interested, it is built in Korea.

I only knew about the Arkana because they recently announced that they were going to sell it here too. Apparently it started out as a Russia-only model but it soon spread elsewhere.

I ask because it's a pretty sizeable machine and looks a size up from a Captur.

I ask because it's a pretty sizeable machine and looks a size up from a Captur. It is only 24mm wider than a Captur, but is 341 mm longer with an 81mm longer wheelbase, TBH I have never looked at the specific dimensions until now but it is actually longer than Kadjar and has a longer wheelbase too, Kadjar though is 15mm wider. We are supposed to be getting a new Kadjar towards the end of the year/early next, this will no doubt be larger than current Kadjar.

Doesn't look bad and is quite competitively priced. Might take a closer look next year when the Ioniq goes back.

One of our showroom models has just arrived, and RS-Line in black, first impressions are it looks bloody good, the interior is very nicely appointed with leather and alcantara and a very nice, polished carbon fibre effect on the dash, the boot is massive, however the tailgate could do with electric opening and closing.
