Was driving one of the kids to their youth club tonight and had just left the freeway and stopped at the lights, waiting to turn. I was the first car and was there for about 30 seconds when there was a noise and the car rocked. The car behind me had hit me- nothing serious, probably doing about 5 mph. I got out and took photos before he moved back and took a picture of the driver. He couldn’t believe he’d hit me and was very apologetic. He was probably in his late 20’s and said he lived nearby so I followed him to his house. Turns out he had just bought the car and the brakes failed on the newer one (probably 15 years old). Anyway we got to his place and I had looked at the car and there was a mark in the dirt on the bumper but nothing dented or marked but I wanted to get his insurance details anyway. We walked over to his old car which was parked with the window down and he realised his car had been broken into while he was out! He got me the insurance paperwork and we exchanged details- I don’t think there’s any follow up to be honest.
But man, I actually felt sorry for the bloke.
Car breaks down, buys a replacement and the brakes fail in it, hits another car, goes to get his insurance paperwork and finds out his original car was broken into.

Yes, that's a bad day.
I got lightly rear-ended at a lights in a similar fashion years ago when I had the E60 M5. Oddly enough it was by a middle-aged chap in an E61 touring. He was mortified but there was no apparent damage to my car and merely a cracked numberplate on his, so I let it slide. I think he was very relieved.

An epic bad hair day. Poor sod, hopefully it gets better for both of you.
