It looks like the hypercar market suffers from F1 syndrome. There’s only one way to get the best out of the regs in F1 so, ride stance aside, the cars all look the same. This car has no redeeming or usp design features that separate it from a Pagani, a McLaren etc to the casual onlooker. If I saw one on the street I’d assume it was a kit car running MX-5 gear.

I feel the same. Nothing about it says Aston Martin other than the badge. I'd have the Ferrari for half the price.

The new Ferrari with the V6 and hybrid looks much nicer.
I'm not sure I'd have any of them now though.

The new Ferrari with the V6 and hybrid looks much nicer. I'm not sure I'd have any of them now though. I had that conversation this morning. One of the clients of the investment guys I was with, has a garage full of very expensive collectible cars - Ferrari's, E-Type, several old 911's, Aston Martin etc etc. Currently insured for many millions but in reality what will they be worth in 15 years time when everything new is electric and petrol stations are going out of fashion faster than flares?

The government has already started to row back on banning gas boilers. I don't think we're going to be close to ready to roll out electric car infrastructure in under 9 years. It takes that long to build only a few miles of high-speed rail track.

Does make me go wow, but I agree that differentiation in the supercar sector is pretty thin. Besides, these cars feel like an irrelevance. Stick £100 million in my bank and I’m sure I’d find umpteen ways to fritter it away. . A supercar wouldn’t be on the list. There can’t be any enjoyment trying to drive one down a country road. That schmee character on YouTube will buy one, wrap it, drive it once down the a40 and then look at it in his garage as it sits forever more on tyre cushions attached to a trickle charger,

Bloody hell its a hard audience here.
I certainly think its striking though as pointed out not very Aston Martin. Rightly or wrongly they working hard to get away from the old man image. Have all super/hyper cars not all looked very similar for the last 40 years. If its mid engined and wedge shaped thats about it.

Nice enough, but I would much rather have a DB5, or even a '70s V8 Vantage.

Well clearly we're all stupid if we think all hypercars look the same.
From the Autocar article: Marek Reichman (design god, who has so far managed the make every Aston he's designed look ungainly (to be polite) against the previous beautiful one....) - What do you regard as the Valhalla’s most distinctive features?"Well, it has a grille, which other hypercars don’t. That means, unlike others, this car has a face. And there are its optimised proportions that make a difference, too. Also the S-curvature at the front that identifies it unmistakably as an Aston. You can put your hand over the badge and people still know exactly what it is. We tried it."

We tried it while it was parked inside our design studio here at Aston Martin"FTFY He's right in that it does have a grille whereas I think most of the others simply have some vents. Still wouldn't spend my £ on it though.

He might as well have said “only we offer this shade of green. That’s how you know it’s an Aston.”
